Interesting observation. I guess it makes sense to save some of the older versions of OS ISOs/ Setups.

Can this app also include 8.1 version. Currently, 1.5 version, doesn't support this :(

Does it not work? I'm pretty sure it modifies the same registry key.

It changes the registry, but with value Windows 8 Core instead Windows 8.1 Core.
    Or is this expected?
My goal is to use legal 8.1 Core key on un-activated 8.1 Pro installation without additional clean install. Any way to reach this goal?
    Tnx, E

Just now I tried what crashnburn suggested few posts above: For me sources\setup.exe reported the same issue as for him, bit after I tried executing setup.exe from the root of the DVD all went fine :)

the pkeyconfig file wouldn't allow the key to be installed. You need a Windows 8.1 Pro product key if you are going to use Windows 8.1 Pro.

I know. My goal was to use Core legal key on existing installation (Pro). I disn't mode downgrading edition, I just didn't know how to.
Then, after using updown8 and executing setup from core installation DVD in root, all went fine.
    Tnx.

I want to go upgrade to win 10, have win 7 Enterprise (aktivated with CODYQX4's KMS tool) and going to downgrade to win 7 pro first.
My guess is I'l have to activate the Win7Pro after the downgrade, or?

If yes whats the simpliest solution?

    Regards

Update: The Ansver were given in Another post, thanx
Sorry Im not alow to add a link:31:

Its in Windows 10 KMS Activation post post £230
Q: "So all KMS activated Windows 8.1 are getting a generic MAK key, similar to how retail gets a generic retail key?"
    A: "Exactly :D."

Did you download the image through Media Creation Tool or somewhere else?
murphy78's image didn't work for me either, by the way.

I don't remember where I got it honestly, but with the filename it came up on Google... possibly I found a torrent of it. It also comes up on archive.org, but I can't post a link.

    @Guys

Please use MSDN ISOs for downgrading; looks like murphy78's AIOs have issues. Besides, MDL doesn't support homebrew releases.

I want to go upgrade to win 10, have win 7 Enterprise (activated with CODYQX4's KMS tool)

What is the best way to do this?

Right now this is my plan:
1 - uninstall Microsoft Toolkit from Cody
2 - downgrade with updown8 from Tito to Win 7 PRO
3 - patch with tool from DAZ
    4 - check activation
    5 - wait a week or tree :)
    6 - upgrade to Win10

Is this right? comments and suggestions apriciated!

    Tnx guys, U realy rocks

    @Edwe

Kinda; but I would rather skip 5 & 6 & download ISO from Microsoft & upgrade.

Is anyone else having an issue where after going through the Upgrade procedure and restarting the computer, it boots into a black screen with a flickering mouse?

I've read that this is caused by a graphics driver potentially or conflict of software...

I've tried to upgrade about 4 times already and always get this result.

I'm attempting to do it with a more appropriate setup disc (rather than the murphy78) this next go around and if that fails remove my display driver. (This will also be my first time using this tool as I've previously been using the manual registry edits but I'm very familiar after reading up on the process by now)

    I currently have a Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise running on a Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. G1.Sniper M5 (on board Intel HD Graphics 4600), Intel Core i5 4670K @ 3.40GHz, 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 1197MHz and two 760 Ti's with SLI disabled for now.

Windows 7 or Windows 8.0/8.1 Enterprise will UPGRADE/Activate to Windows 10 Pro, with NO ISSUE, anyway mine did, on Desktop and Laptop.
once Activated, Clean Install and still 100% Activated. YES REMOVE ANY KMS PROGRAM AND ALSO REMOVE THE SCHEDULE.
    ps: I also never used Step 3, 4, 5.
check activation and let MS do the WU Upgrade I also tested the MS Creation Tool DL the proper ISO, uncompressed and ran SETUP skip any key.
    still works. 100%

PS: Tito thanks much for the UP/Down I have tested from Ent to Pro to Core, and back to Pro and Ent.
    works perfect every time...

    Hi,

I'd like to downgrade from Windows 8.1 enterprise N to Windows 8.1 pro.
I don't have an MSDN account to get the iso. Can I use one downloaded through the Windows 8.1 media creation tool available on microsoft website? (sorry I'm not allowed to post the link because I don't have enough posts on this forum)
    thanks :)

EDIT: I tried to do so bu the installation failed.

Here are the logs from C:\$Windows.~BT\sources\Panther:
