You are using Windows 8 Core (there is nothing like Windows 8 Home). You can upgrade; look at the link carefully. The key is in it .
Thank you very much (sorry for late response, I got no email notification although I subscribed to the topic). Okay, as I said I do not have the installation media of Windows 8 , it came pre-installed on my Lenovo Y500, and I read in the original post you saying that I have to insert the media at some stage, can you please relate to this? Also, regarding the upgrade 8.1, will I be able to upgrade after having upgraded to Pro using your tool ?
You don't need installation media (in Windows 8) if you upgrade from Core to Pro or Core to ProWMC or Pro to ProWMC. Simply enter the default trial retail key, then activate using CODYQX4's toolkit. Yes you can.
Thanks again, but I just tried to upgrade to 8 Pro it still asks me to "insert the installation media and run sources/setup.exe and upgrade" I have a genuine Windows 8 pre-installed, and have no installation CD/DVD. 1- What media should I give it ? 2- I didn't see Pro WMC in the options: only Core, Pro, Enterprise. Thanks for your prompt responses mate. EDIT: Okay I tried the option "Add features to Windows 8" there it asks for a SN, I give it the key you mentioned , but it says "wont work".
As I said before, you don't need to use this app in your case. Open the app & select Core from the drop down list (to revert the change). Then use 'Add features to Windows 8' wizard to upgrade to Pro. Please mask the key.
Thanks, now I got it, but trust me, it wasn't clear it all, neither in the attached readme file, nor in your responses. Why didn't simply say "if you have Windows 8 Core (the non-Pro), you do not need to run the tool just do blah blah" ? It would have been much easier Anyway I followed your tip and just entered that default SN, and did not use Cody's yet, but it says "activated". I hope I won't need it. Thanks alot.
Yes, Sorry. it actually turned out it wasn't activated as I thought. I used Cody's and it got activated
If I May Inquire... This is truly one of the most useful tools I've ever had the opportunity to find and use. Thank you much, Tito. If I may ask though, would this work for cross architecture installs as well? (32-bit "upgrading" to 64-bit)
this didn't work for me, I was trying to downgrade from Win7EnterpriseSP1 x64 to Win7Professional x64 (from a win7 48 in 1 dvd), I got to choose Win7 Professional x64 (msdn version) went on and clicked upgrade - but it didn't let me downgrade. The window said something about Enterprise being newer so... and also blabbered about upgrading between x64 and x32 not possible --- well I wasn't trying to do that anyhow. Ok this method didn't work. I'm left with a clean install of Win7professional which is ok... I have had this similar issue before, installed win7ent and realized I cannot Windows Loader SLIC it, so I clean installed win7prof for order to use Windows Loader. This is now like the sixth time installing Win7 on my SSD in about a year, I hope this will be the last one as I don't want the drive to wear.. then again my pals said c'mon it will last at least 20 years. Ok maybe 15 years now after all these re-installs... SSD is Intel SSD 330 (120gb). Data I store to different drives HDD sataIII.
I have Enterprise Evaluation. Rearms have run out. What exactly do I need to do to upgrade to Enterprise? What is the media I need to provide? Can't afford actual Windows 8, need to use pirated.
Successfully upgraded from Windows 8 Enterprise Eval, to Pirated Windows 8 Pro! Thanks so much. My programs/files are still there! Hopefully will buy Windows when I have the money!
