Hello to everybody I have an issue and i don't know if it has a solution... Some years ago i purchased a couple of keys for Office 2016 from ebay... I installed it on my computers , activated and all was fine. recently i had my computer crashed and trying to reinstalled Office i had the information that my key is rejected and is not valid. The question now is ...on my other computer i have a similar Office 2016 installation but is 32bit and i need 64bit for a project...so what can i do to get the 64bit version of Office without getting my key rejected....it would be a shame to throw a good valid installation just to change bitness
Since no helpful response came i just bitten the bullet....and wend on.... First i took an activation backup (useless) So i uninstalled Office 2016 x86... Installed Office 2016...but surprise surprise it defaulted to x86.... I uninstalled it...... Then i installed Office 2016 x64....i had wrong the version(Retail vs VL)...although i was pretty sure it was ok ????...anyway I tried to trick the activation believing i had the correct version... No effect...actually it ruined Windows Activation Tried to repair the installation as it indicated it was erroneous Again uninstalled Office x64... Installed VL Office 2016 x64 without internet connection replaced the Activation to the original (thankfully i didn't delete it... although all the tutorials seemed that it will do the job...THEY DON'T WORK...don't waste time on this) Thankfully Windows Activation got fixed... Office 2016 VL was activated without strange hiccups.....i reestablished Internet...no problems ...still activated...started working..NO ISSUES... End of story..IF you have Office VL ACTIVATED and you want to change bitness...just unistall it and replace with the version you want....it will work without issues and get activated....
Not really a surprise, MSFT by default installs x86 (when the retail iso is used), because of possible compatibility problems with older addons. Only people who have to maintain huge databases need to specifically run x64 office. ps, instead of using a doubtful key of questionable origin, use KMS.
