The right version for you would be the best and latest that comes out on 2 Aug through Windows Update, its called Anniversary Update 1 year after what you have now 10240, I know you live far away but if somehow you could get this from here or windows Update, you would be set for awhile.
That's the en_US version, and is fine (you can eventually add any language pack from the control panel) If your actual installed version is not an en_US version you maybe will be not able to upgrade retaining all the installed apps. In that case just change the value you have here (using regedit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\Language Change the InstallLanguage value from what you have to 409. (409 is en_US, 410 is italian, 809 is en_GB, and so on) Then reboot, then restart the setup again
that build is insider preview. but it is very stable and not time bombed. I suggest waiting for final rs1 iso
this may b of help to OP look for getright at getright.com it will help you download what ever u need if I was u I would start with ftp sites that have win 10 on it and u can use getright to start and stop when ever u feal like it that's if your net is slows it will even split the download up into 4 to 8 bits at a time so its a bit faster to download look on google for ftp searchers on line. u may get lucky. sorry I wont and cant post the ftp links I have well shouldn't have any way. sorry 2 all I have just got home from hospital after having surgery on my left shoulder and the pain killers wont kick in dam it all. OP check your inbox
Getright was the king of the downloaders, but now isn't updated since half decade. Jdownloader I suggested above does whatever getright did, does it for free, and does a lot of more. There is still ONE thing that getright can do and that no other program does. It's able to resume a downloaded started by something else, say a browser that crashed when it was at 99% of the download. That's the only reason to keep using it.
You Guys are breathtakingly brilliant...I mean wow, There is so much to learn The version I mentioned downloading a while back, has the rs1 moniker. Isnt that The aniversary release codename too, redstone? It was 0409 already, But thank you Isnt This rs1? Got your Pm buddy and thank you!! Ok, downloading the .esd now @ 48 KiB/s ETA 18H
When I started to use internet in '98 my cellular connection was running at the blazing speed of 9600bps aka around 1/48th of what are you getting now. Nowadays my cellular connection is well above 30Mbps, but doesn't mean that my memory is short
Come on! You must have a really strange definition of "very old" given you know pretty well that 14383 was released TWO DAYS AGO. What's the point on getting confused an user who asked for help?
I'm not trying to get him confused, just wondering why he does not wait until next week for Insiders build or 2 Aug for RTM and be up to date, no biggie
If your download speed is too low, you should stick on to your build and wait for the RS1 version which will be out soon.
and that, for me, is the problem with w10. it will constantly evolve, so all people will ever do is play catch up. at least with 7/8/8.1, their features are set in stone, so people cant get on top of them once and for all.
Like above people suggested stick with whatever RTM build you have at present. Later on August 2 you can download the iso and then upgrade directly to RS1. But if you happen to download the insider build now, then you have to download RS1 build again when it is available to public.
That Did it...just saw today build 14345 was released.I think I will wait till August 2 I live In Kolkata West Bengal and have an Internet connection from local cable operators, they are all extremely slow and have s**tty customer service , but the saving grace is they all have Local peering for popular downloads (I get about About 400 KiB/s).The August 2 edition , being a public release, should be a popular download, and therefre should be peered. Thanks as always, Windows 10 nomenclature and release architectures were somewhat baffling to me ( I am a Windows 7 SP1 Kinda guy), now thay are quite clear! so once again to all of you !!
Nothing is wrong on 10240 (and 9600 and 7600...), but PRO users will be more or less forcefully updated anyway. If one wants to stick with 240 must use the LTSB flavor.
