usb c in laptop (question)

Now that my 9 yr old home desktop is dying, should I wait for a laptop with usb-c port?
Since laptops do come with usb 3.1 gen 1/2, only the usb-c functionality will be lost.
What would be :

• the changes in current gen usb-a only laptops' pricing
  
• sacrifice in functionality in buying now
• probabilty of next gen mid range laptops incorporating the new ports (since current high end do have them)
