I have an Acer Extensa 4620Z. I'd like to use some DOS tool to flash the stock BIOS from Acer. I found this thread:

    forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/6447-How-to-get-Acer-Bios-.rom-from-.exe

which luckily deals with the exact image I am trying to flash.

I was able to extract the WPH from the EXE provided by Acer, and open it in PBE without errors as described in the thread above. I have two different versions of phlash16 - 1.4.59 and 1.6.5.4. Neither of them is willing to flash this BIOS. After reading the WPH file I extracted, 1.4.59 says "platform signature not found in the interface" and 1.6.5.4 immediately says something like "error opening bios.wph". I am not running phlash16 with any arguments other than the name of the bios image I am trying to flash.

Is it not possible to use the DOS tools to flash an Acer BIOS?

    Thanks for any help.
