To my surprise, Windows 7 runs extremely well on my machine. I mean really well.
    It's a Core i5-9400F, H310 mobo with 24GB DDR4 RAM and a 500GB NVMe SSD.

Initially I just did this as a test, just for the fun of it and to check if it was possible...
Now I want to continue using Win7 as my main OS for the next 7 days (no pun intended).

I'm running the x64 Ultimate SKU in UEFI mode (no CSM), patched all the way until January 2020.
Also installed Microsoft's Security Essentials which works just fine, and using Microsoft Edge 88 as my browser, which was pulled by Windows Update.

I'm not in danger as long as I carefully watch which sites I visit, and as long as I don't click any questionable links, right?

Yes and also use Sandboxie to sandbox your browser, that'll help a lot for security.

And use a good firewall like Soft4Ever Look'n'Stop. It's a steady and safe OS for sure :)

You wll be more secure than using 10 with all that spyware telemetry, what kind of questions is this, is this post a joke ? Using 7 for years, currently on esu program, still having security updates, no problems.

risks? zero! m$ is doing their damnest to convince you that 7 is not safe anymore; that you have to use their w 10 malware.
i am still on 7, surfing with no restrictions, just have noscript in my browser, and i rarely catch any malware.:D

It is amazing how effective these international corporations are at brainwashing the public into believing complete utter lies. Do yourself a huge service, think for yourself. Windows 7 is still getting security updates until 2023 with ESU bypass you can have those same updates. It has less telemetry than win 10, therefore it is more secure.

Exactly. Hence W7 + Sandboxie + NoScript/uBlock Origin and you're good to go.

Why not patch it to Feb. 2021?

Not commenting on the "conspiracy" "stuff".

  9. Use bypass ESU to get ESU updates till 2023. And I would suggest not using Microsoft Edge, it spies like hell. I would rather suggest using a good open source web browser like firefox.

Silly to use Win 7 when you have Win 10. Very silly.

if you have installed win7 on UEFI BIOS
    or
if you have installed win7 on Legacy then simply use Daz Loader .
thats all hope your problem will be resolved asap.

Your choice if you prefer the spyware. I don't.

  15. And why does the 'Professional' SKU have ads for Candy Crush? Even the cheapest edition of Windows 7 (Starter) didn't have a single ad.

My post is in reaction to #13. I'm pro Win7, writing from it.

  17. I meant that Windows 10 Pro has ads. I was also supporting your point :)

Also using Windows 7 and I would argue that Windows XP is more secure than Windows 10.
