What should my upload be so I can get healthy and fast downloads without bogging down my upload speed? I heard that if you set your upload speed to more than 85% of its total upload bandwidth, your internet will choke... My download speed is 8 mbps my upload speed is only 512 kbps upload speeds suck where I live.
It depends on torrents, somes despite rich seeded/leeched suck although you give full bandwith. Btw. I think only dl speed from leechs is affected by UL limit.
My upload is 10 Mb/s, so around 1 MB/s max. I can set it at 800 kB/s up, but then my download starts to drop sometimes. So I set it at 666 kB/s up, but 75% is sort of a standard. Check your speed in your client with a large and steady download, start at 50% and go up. See when the download starts to drop, and set it a bit lower
