Anyone here have a developer account for windows and an Xbox One? There's a theory I'd like to test, if you're willing of course.
Very interesting, I've managed to create an appx package with MakeAppx but if I try to deploy it fails because the certificate is missing...
You have to sign it manually, however, you'd have to modify the manifest file, unless you broke into Microsoft and stole the certificate files.
I just noticed that this app automatically removed from installed app... well, it's life don't lasts longer than (approx.) 3 hours. That is weird.
If Microsoft ever got rid of win32 file explorer I would have to consider biting the bullet and switching over to Ubuntu. My PC is not a phone or a tablet, and UWP apps are terrible for power users like myself (and probably most others on here).
I'm content with file explorer as it is today. I like the ribbon, details pane, and shell extensions like hashtab. It has decades of user experience and work behind it unlike the middling mobile app they will surely end up releasing. Considering how light weight Edge was, I won't be surprised if they release Explorer in that condition and say everything is good enough because it can navigate into folders. I wonder if they'll allow us to view OS hidden files in addition to normal hidden files? Security/permission settings? I just don't have faith in them and am stuck with them only because of gaming lol.
Just imagine if the NTFS permissions window were full screen, large contrast color themed, and instead of check boxes they give us those stupid UWP slider bars. Kill me if that ever happens.
I knew this would end up on WindowsBlogItalia, now I have to fix this mess once and for all, I'll be posting an updated build of it shortly.
Before I leak the newer build, I want whoever was responsible for posting this on WindowsBlogItalia to post here, and tell me why you took credit for it, twisted the story, and reuploaded it.
@ OP I am not going to say file explorer looks hideous somehow but the lack of ability to change the background(I am not in support of turning it into UWP yet) is discouraging while looking at how Windows 10 has metamophorsed into what we see today. Don't you think this modded file explorer will break something during update or use more of the system resources?
Power users have been using third-party file managers for ages that do things Win Explorer can only dream about, so if this app ever becomes the default such users certainly won't care. Do you really think someone as shameless as that will confess?
