I agree, but the writer is complete idiot. Genuine Stories are retarded.

That is a very good news. Thank you for the info.

Have you done some scanning or you just did the update?

Who wants to try unofficial WAT, please visit Solor's thread "WAT released (unofficially)". The validation still works, and I don't expect any changes. I haven't tried this WAT, because I know nothing will change. For BIOS mod, of course.

I tried that WAT update on a VM and I practically did nothing. I heard someone getting deactivated after that update but that was because they had the original leaked Levono key. I am still guessing that the worst is still to come though because M$ is putting a lot of effort into this.

I agree. The final WAT will be with the SP1 release, but I don't think it will change anything for modded BIOS. Also, I don't think that anything will change with Windows 8 when they release it. No, my mistake, Andy will release new tools for BIOS. :)

This message is on all my PC's, even with BIOS from 2006. As I wrote before BIOS mods will be safe for 7 and 2008 R2. My only mistake was for SP1. Bummer.

Auf Wiedersehen, MS? See you for Windows 8. :D

    Hi all!!

I've done some testing on a old PC with an ASUS motherboard and hard modded bios.

    Conclusions:
Asus MB + Modded Bios With Dell Slic 2.1 + Dell Certificate + Dell Key => WAT will say not genuine
Asus MB + Modded Bios With Asus Slic 2.1 + Asus Certificate + Asus Key => WAT will say genuine

So I suppose that WAT will Check you MB manufacturer against the SLIC Manufacturer. If both equal means genuine.

I've installed WAT from MS Genuine Web Page, and after also tried to install the one posted on one of this threads but W7 menssage was that the update was allready installed(from MS Genuine Web Page I suppose).

    Hope it helps....

I would have to agree with this. I tried several and no problem.

armada since you've got so many systems your probably a good member to ask. I am running MSI board (slic mod), MSI slic and certificate, but acer ultimate key since MSI doesnt have ultimate key. I am wondering if I should get bios modded to HP, dell or acer so slic, certificate, and key all match. I dont want to mess up my ultimate install with wat and MSI only has premium key from what I have heard. You think I need to get bios remodded? Thanks

I once repaired an Acer branded desktop. It had an MSI manufactured motherboard. So it should be acceptable to use Acer for MSI mobos.

Thanks motion55 for the response. I might just be paranoid and not need to worry but I might have to request new bios. I know HP has used many MSI boards also so guess it will be Acer or HP if I go with remod. Thanks again

Thank you for the good info on this topic.

Ertemmstein, Thank you for the pictures. I forgot to post mine.

If you have this message with MGADiag:

    The reason is this:
That is only Office related, not BIOS mod.
