it is a trade-off. I choose Vmware Player because of nested virtualization and performance.

I think vmware is better than virtualbox because of vmware tools. installing vmware tools makes your virtual machine almost like bare metal. well kinda

I share the same opinion, I'm using Xubuntu on a vmware virtual machine as my daily main OS for development.

How is that different than VirtualBox, which also has it's own tools?

I know but Virtualbox dosent support as many systems as vmware. I mean for gods sake they support vmware tools for windows 98 and plus vmware has more features with tools than virtualbox

VMware is and always has been superior by far to VBox and other virtualization SW, period.

Then VBox is more than enough for simple virtualization tasks (and is generally easier to setup under Linux), that said try to use a WinX with WMC as guest on VBOX ad VMware, then report back what happens :D

I'm using NT 3.x and Linux in VirtualBox, and Windows 95 and later in VMware.

VMware is partially better because of its stretch display scaling feature seen on Workstation 15.x to present versions which is not present in both Virtualbox and Hyper-V. The only cons with VMware is the mouse performance is slower without VMware Tools compared to Hyper-V. I had to install VMware tools in OOBE of Windows 10/11 using the Shift+F10 method to open CMD for me.
