I just have 1 more (dumb) question please because I think I'm there....but there's confusion over this.... As I've installed an OEM copy of Vista Home Premium on the MESH PC (this is tied to the motherboard?) if I try to upgrade to Ultimate do I use an OEM SLP key? (or just an OEM key?). Thanks
is this a new home premium install? with an OEM-SLP key? that you are talking about. Or is it the non-SLP OEM key home premium that you were tring to upgrade to ultimate and didnt work? And why do you want to upgrade when it hasnt worked for you? Hope you're not using the term "upgrade " loosely.
OK - Mesh PC originally came with XP pro Media Centre. I bought an OEM version (non-SLP) of Vista Home Premium (DVD) (for distribution only with a PC) and installed this (not an upgrade). This disk contains all "flavours" of Vista. I'd like to install Ultimate. Disk comes with Anytime Upgrade. You are right about the confusion.... I just need to know can I install Ultmate from this purchased disk. I'm sorry if it can't be done and I've wasted your time.
Ok what is happening here i thought you had allready did upgrade to ultimate if you have why didn't you try inserting the certificate and serial with daz loader. First thing you need to check is if you can activate any version of vista with certificate and key, you can use Any vista install dvd just don't insert serial when installing. you need to start doing thing we cant guess everything still don't know if you have full slic so try the loader
Urie/Venu - it's worked. Used Daz loader, re-booted, came back as activated! Ultimate installed. I can now do this for Windows 7 on my lappy. My extended thanks to yourself and Venu for putting up with the rantings of a complete novice. Have learned a lot reading things on this site, and whilst some of it is still fuzzy, I have learned something, and can only admire you guys for your knowledge. Please close the thread.
Great glad yo got it,did you only use the daz loader to install certificate and key ? you didn't you the loader part? i just wich you could manage to post screen shots from slic dump toolkit makes everything a lot clearer from this side. Yes if you laptop has slic in it you can upgrade. also remember if you have slic 2.1 you can install windows 7. you can also look in stickies on how to make OEM dvd you could convert you anytime upgrad dvd then its just a case of putting in the dvd and installing it will be pre activated, save you any hastle when you need to reinstall windows.

You used loader to install things do you mean just certificate and serial you didnt use the loader part ?
