Vista Movie Maker to Windows 7

I'm desperately trying to get WMM (vista) onto my new laptop "7" I assume I can't download from windows. Different threads seem not totally solve the problem on how to do this for a 64 bit system. HELP! Can I really get this to work? Registering filters, etc. I'm not sure what's involved in doing any of these kinds of steps. I am not a computer geek but I do have a certain level of computer savvy. Beethoven

 

Warning !!!!

I downloaded the following file:-

1. Download and install this file from mediafire it will install Windows Movie Maker from Vista on Windows 7 But it will not have HD options for publishing movies.

Ok

Checked the file with BittDefender 2010, report OK

I went to install MovieMaker and BittDefender 2010 Reports it has stopped programe from installing because of a virus

I did not carry on with the install, has anyone else had problems ???

Okay I've tried this a bunch of times and no joy!
I just did the Windows Movie Maker Setup.exe
from here and another version of this file
download and it says there is a problem installing MOVIEMKR.dll which is the first dll in the program list. I am sure it will choke on all the rest too.
I have copied the entire Movie Maker folder from a Vista machine and put it in the program files directory (x86) and tried to manually register the dlls but it says that they are not dll files or they are corrupt.
I would really like to get this on my kid's Win 7 laptop but I'm not getting anywhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and I have disabled the UAC control in 7 so I can have admin rights.
I may just have to buy a 3rd party program so she can do here projects.

The link is invalid This Windows 7 Movie Maker 2.6 is driving me insane with all the missing stuff and errors. Please post it again.

Windows Vista Movie Maker sucks balls compared to the Windows Live Movie Maker. This is not worth the trouble. Some people seem to have too much time to kill.

 

Please explain, because I like a timeline that the Live version misses as far as I know.

 

where can I get an offline version of Windows live movie maker..
Is that include HD options or not?
