I am trying to install Windows Vista SP2 x64 on my laptop. Backported USB drivers allow me to install the OS using a pendrive, but after the first reboot, it gets stuck on completing installation every time. A quick google search tells me that I need to set the SATA drives in Compatible mode instead of AHCI mode, but in that case, the harddrives do not get detected. What can I do in this situation? By the way, windows vista is not officially supported on my laptop, it only has drivers for Windows 7 & 10.
What is the brand name and model name and model number and serial/service tag number of your laptop? It would helpful to the experts here if you advise us exactly how you created a USB flash drive with Windows Vista and USB drivers.
It is Lenovo Ideapad 110 15IBR 80T7. I have an SSD installed other than the 1TB harddrive that is already included. I did not include the USB drivers in the ISO, when the installation started and asked for drivers, I showed the path of Universal USB3 driver. The installation loaded the driver from there and allowed me to continue the installation.
What is the description of the processor in your laptop? I believe it comes with an Intel "Braswell" model, but I am not sure. If it does, I do not believe it supports Windows Vista.
That processor appears to have Intel HD Graphics 405 integrated graphics which supports Windows 7, but not Windows Vista. It is my guess you are going to hit the wall with trying to install and use Windows Vista in your laptop.
