I'll have a look over the weekend hopefully, got a deadline to meet with another project at the moment.
Success with OEMBIOS changer from 911medic Thanks for this great tool. It worked successfully for me changing a VLK install on a compaq notebook into an OEM version. There was one thing that occurred along the way. The OEMBIOS files I downloaded were not compressed so I placed them into the Uncompressed folder and then ran through the steps in the program. At the end it stated that the oembios.cat file could not be found. I looked into the Oembios files folder, where it appears they are copied to during the run and it indeed did not get copied. So, I did the copy myself and reran it. It was then successful.
ok i was searching and scanning threads and realized "ummm i might need some help" hahaha im running a dell dimension 3100 with a windows xp pro mce with a vlk key... i believe it was made by orbit... pretty sure i got it from the bay about a year ago... what exactly do i need to do to get this beast from vlk back to oem? im pretty tech savy but this is one thing i havent tried out... any help would be great... thanks in advance!!
This wont change out the correct key for MCE. Only xp pro/home/WHS. I can make one for you.. It would be a couple of days.
ahhhh yes that was gonna be my next question! id love to have it and i can for sure wait big thanks and much appreciated in advance... a tool like what you have made and will make for mce is more than handy... its basically essential at least for me... especially after numerous reformats for various reasons again thanks a lot!! honestly im sick of vlk keys
damn medic you are quick on the ball!! i will try this out this weekend and give ya an update as to how it went thanks again i really appreciate you taking the time to make this cheers!
proplems using OEMBIOSChanger xp pro 32 bit fresh install OEMBIOS.EXE not suitable for MS-DOS and MIcrosoft Windows Close first option fails
one question before i run this... im assuming i just unrar it and run it correct?? how do i know everything went successfully after the fact? as in permanent activation and such...
If you download the larger tool, there is an oobe checker in the tools folder. You run that after reboot and it will either say activated, or ask you to activate... You unrar it and run the batch in the small changer I give you. It will install a DELL key for MCE also...
ahhh yes sorry good sir... i just ran the larger program and found oobe... great comprehensive set of tools in that!! thats for sure gonna be put on the usb stick and used on all computers still have not tried it out yet but plan to here in about the next hour... i will keep ya posted thanks again cheers from canada
worked like a treat medic!! one click and i was in oem freedom and rid myself from those ba**ard vlk keys again thanks i really appreciate the time ya took to make this happen
I will eventually add the MCE module to the tool. Some of hte keys not working, I may limit it to the OEMs I know released the MCE 2005.. Thanks for the feedback and I am glad to help...
adding mce support to that tool would make it the ultimate i think... keep us updared as to when you are gonna add it... stuff like that is great for the emergency usb stick
