i just followed the sticky on how to do this. follow by a clean install on my spare rig..Dell Dimension 4550 i notice i did't have to enter a key to install?? just wondering what else iv gained by doing this?? will it pass the wga??
Have you tried??? Did you have OEMBIOS changed to DELL?? Do you have a Dell SLP string?? (I am sure you do)
If you followed the guide, then you also copied a txt file (winnt.sif i I recall correctly) that enters the serial for you, so to speak. If you open the file up, you can see exactly what it does; which is doing an unattended install and hence installs without you having to input lots of things. If you want to install Windows and make all the regular selections, just delete this file before installing. And yes, if you followed the guide, WGA won't be a problem.
sorry for the delay.....had trouble with my wireless. connected to the ie and passed the wga. i then downloaded all the updates not sure....how can i tell??. i did run the oembios.exe and found the crc's strings yes i did i did follow the guide but no text file was added..only OEMBIOS.BI_ OEMBIOS.CA_ OEMBIOS.DA_ OEMBIOS.SI_ anyways.....all seems good
