The SLP 1.0 string for Windows Virtual PC is not working in Windows XP Professional SP3 OEM running inside a VMWare Workstation 9.0.2 virtual machine. The string is "Windows_Virtual_XP_F9161D8E7FCC11DDBFAA369856D89593", matching oembios file is Microsoft (OEMBIOS.CAT CRC32=B4FFCA38), and the string is expected at memory location F908A. I tried with "361H_asus21.rom". When I unpack this BIOS image, I can see that the string is correctly present in BIOSCOD2.ROM module at file offset 189D. As far as I can tell, this is the correct location, and it should get mapped to F908A. When I look with RW-Everything inside the VM running with this BIOS, the string is not there at F908A. It seems to have been overwritten. Other SLP 1.0 strings, such as the "Dell System" string, work and are at their respective expected memory locations.
After being told over and over that VMWare Player could not run a SLP OEM windows, I luckily found this site. I have a Dell Precision T3500 running Vista SP2, that I need to virtualize. It was purchased in 2011. My problem is that there are many Dell ROM's in the Mega Pack to pick from and I have no idea which one is appropriate for my system. Can someone tell me which ones are most likely to work? OR Is there a procedure (process or instructions or utilities) I can follow that will provide the information I need to select the correct ROM? As you can tell I know next to nothing about bios modding and I've never attempted to use anything but the default bios VMWare Player. Until a short time ago I was oblivious that SLP even existed. But with this Mega Pack it seems like it would be a relatively easy process to virtualize my system and run on VMWare Player. That is, if I can locate the correct ROM and can make the correct bios440.filename = “OEM_Bios.rom” change. TIA for any help, suggestions, ideas and links! Ceje
Got 2012 R2 working in ESXi 5.1! Key from here: htt0://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/36721-Windows-Server-2012-amp-2012-R2-OEM-SLP-Keys?p=624917&viewfull=1#post624917 You can use the default DELL certificate: DELL-DD981F15.XRM-MS And here the custom bios440: htt0://sharesend.com/88nujaz1
Nice you made the bios yourself or is it a Dell 2.3? The vmware v10 bios pack only includes dell 2.2 but a fujitsu 2.3 it seems. So basicly one needs to get a 2.3 modded bios but can use a 2.x certificate?
I also got 2012 R2 Standard OEM working using the Fujitsu 2.3 Bios from the mega bios pack v3 & the Dell certificate. All the files & OEM key were found on this site. Thanks for all the hard work building the pack & gathering the information. Special thanks to DAZ for his loader!
Glad to here you have everything going ok but you may be confused Fujitsu 2.3 Bios slic and Dell certificate to activate is not possible OEM:SLP keys can be used with different manufacturers. But Slic in bios must match same manufacturer
May I ask what the purpose of these BIOS's are? If I run a retail, non-activated version of windows XP, does using one of these bioses activate said product? Or how could they otherwise be used with activation?
