Just hoping posts 305 and 306 weren't buried. Can someone confirm #305?
Has anyone successfully extracted a patched VMWare BIOS from windows and used it on Linux/Fusion?

Your file doesn't have the right md5sum as the first post. Here's a copy of the original:

Heh, your doesn't have it either  ...as a matter of fact we all have:

    File: VMBIOS_Select_Lite_x32-64bit.exe
    CRC-32: 99a79047
    MD4: ab8a9318b6712e4124f707a72c2f9f1f
    MD5: f9c6691918e63a8d540db815db698b1a
    SHA-1: 5047dfac57a0dda0fbe2e64fd9eee16a9e11613c

...which is different then posted by searchengine on the first page.

Odd. I did it before I posted and I just downloaded again on two machines on different networks:

    $ md5sum VMBIOS_Select_Lite_x32-64bit.7z
    0648a5c1a7e9b6d8c555b490e0bb6bab *VMBIOS_Select_Lite_x32-64bit.7z

This is from within cygwin. What program did you use?

I use HashCalc 2.02 and another one which is integrated with my windows, both gave me the same checksum.
    File: VMBIOS_Select_Lite_x32-64bit.exe
    CRC-32: 99a79047
    MD4: ab8a9318b6712e4124f707a72c2f9f1f
    MD5: f9c6691918e63a8d540db815db698b1a
    SHA-1: 5047dfac57a0dda0fbe2e64fd9eee16a9e11613c

I think that George might be using cygwin as well.

    btw.
I haven't seen him lately, more like 2-3 weeks...how about you guys?

I used Hashcalc and it gave me the values from post 1. It'd be interesting to see what others see. I used Firefox 4.0b6 to up/download.

I hate to be the complete n00b to point this out, but some of you are posting hashes for the .7z archive while others are posting hashes for the .exe file itself.

I downloaded them all just to check, and all the .exes are the same hash value.

    :)

I totally missed that. ;) I extracted woebetide's archive and the exe matches with Post #1's .exe.

Quick question, will this patch work with the new VMWare Workstation 7.1.2-301548?

Yes, it will, but will replace new 3.15 BIOS with a modded 3.14 (hence my remark above!)

To add valid SLP string and/or SLIC 2.1 in the vmware bios, so that u can test Windows XP/2003/7/2008 etc in it and activate them by OEM:SLP method... ~ thats it
