searchengine, I patched dell slp and slic then rerun and added boot delay first time i had added delay noticed it writes to a config.ini where is that? also is it possible to rerun and add usb boot that won't remove dell slp slic or overwrite vmware backup will it? i take it the restorator patch only patches part of the vmware bios and does not overwrite whole bios with modded one. Thanks for such a great tool.
NO need to rerun anything to get the USB boot. Just extract USB_Boot.iso from the VMBIOS_Selector_v315g.exe & make use it sebus
urie, config.ini is located at C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation. When you 1st use patcher to add "10 sec boot delay"; it makes a backup copy of your original config.ini and names it config.bak; and then adds 10 second (bios.bootDelay = "10000") to config.ini. When u use the patcher to turn off "10 sec boot delay"; the config.ini that was edited is deleted, and the config.bak file is renamed to config.ini (original state). USB_Boot.iso (@140kb) is just a small file that is copied to your Desktop. Nothing will overwrite your vmware-vmx.exe backup ... and your Dell selection cannot be changed until you specifically choose to do so, by selecting an alternative brand.
Anybody has an idea how to extract the bios.rom from Restorator patch (ie. ACER_315.exe) Of course I can run it against vmware-vmx.exe with -force -guiless switches & the extract bios.rom from patched vmware-vmx.exe (but that is way longer then it needs to be) Thanks sebus
yep, all manufacturers got slic2.1 and most have slp1 also ... just a few brands without slp1 ( as marked *) on patcher
Hello, I'm trying to install original XP from my old Dell laptop on VMware Workstation 7 but with no luck I downloaded modded BIOS pack and used DELL_315.ROM. But windows setup is not accepting my original product key from the label on laptop. What I'm doing wrong?
The key from the label is USELESS, use the OEM SLP key from stickies! Are you sure ity is Dell original OEM media that you have & not some pirated VL copy? sebus
Not that it matters (too much), does it? You can do it all by hand with extracted archive... You are sure you run it as administrator? sebus
hmm, strange ... try extracting the.exe file with winrar or 7-zip, and double click on the VMBIOS.cmd file to see if menu appears. maybe corrupt .exe file ... try re-downloading and check MD5 hash.
Will do and thanks for the update. Edit: Hashes are fine, unpacked and tried the cmd instead. same message "Invalid selection: - try re-type returning to main menu" (endless loop) Edit 2: I installed vmware and tried it, then it worked fine so its my computer.. for some reason I used "MS applocale utility", could that be a problem?
I would say so too. Version previous worked fine but now it doesnt and i have some other issues with öäå and other stuff after that utility.. Once i get my hands on a new drive ill use anarethos tool and do everything clean..
