    MSI does not have an * but it only inserts SLP 2.1 not SLP1.0.
    Used Acer and worked great. Thanks.

    Really glad to see you back searchengine, :D keep up the great work.

    Edit: meant to say VMware Workstation 8 Build 434829 Beta (ENG) is kicking around the net not sure yet if bios has been updated just giving you a heads up for when it gets out of beta stage.

    At least we know now it has been updated I take it Restorator patch would be useless at the moment it wouldn't work on final version would it ?

    Restorator patch will work on v8 beta and I expect also v8 final, but bios bld would show as 315 ... when v8 final is released and bios bld no. is known, then patcher can be updated to latest bld no.

    Cheers Searchengine, I downloaded beta version unpacked it and did admin install just too have a look. Don't want to do proper install of beta and will hold back hoping Lite version appears when it is final :)

    yeah, I only extracted v8 beta installer to get a look at vmware-vmx.exe and extract binres 6006 to see blos bld no. ... likewise, I don't want to install beta, prefer to wait for lite version of final. :)

    Installed the beta version with a modified vmware-vmx.exe. (with restorator)
    Windows not genuine and no slic 2.1 found in vmware bios, so .....??????:eek:
    I used the asus2.1.rom from the megapack.

    What do you mean by megapack ? do you mean VMWare_ROM_Collection.7z from first page of this section.

    assuming you manually patched, but like urie, unsure what u patched with ... can you try patching with the patcher from download link 1, and advise outcome?

    Yes, that's the one I used:)
    I also noted the Korean, but thought English would replace it.

    @woebetide...

    remove or delete vmware-vmx-debug.exe (from your Program Files), and vm will then run using your patched .exe.
