@searchengine That's right. However I am using VMware WSTN on Japanese language version. I know you don't support other than English language version, but all the tools that you developed before had been working fine on Japanese language environment. Thank you so much for your advice.
@searchengine I had impressed with your professional handling! The "Test-x32;64bit-Manual;Auto.7z" worked perfectly! It had patched "vmware-vmx.exe" on Windows XP x64 Pro(J) by using "menu 1" without "M". The elevating permission had executed on Windows XP x64 Pro without any error. I would appreciate it if you could complete new VMBIOS_Selector_v315-339 in an extension of this technic. Thank you so much for your efforts. Many Thanks!
@nori2nori... u r welcome ... glad to see Windows XP x64 Pro(J) patching without error. I'm planning to update the 1st page download link with a Manual|Auto patcher, after I apply some minor tweaks to the script, and replace a few more 315 bios's with 339, eventually replacing them all with bld 339.
Yep, this works perfectly! Tested with VMWare Workstation 8 on both XP Pro x64 and 7x64, in both manual and automatic modes. Manual mode is a nice feature. Looking forward to getting the whole new package. Thanks for all the work.
1st Page Description and Download Link updated:- * updated 29/09/2011 * edited various "Brands" & "BootLogo's" * Acer, Alienware, Asus, ATComputers, Dell, HP, & Toshiba... updated to bios bld 339 * added permissions utility to by-pass restrictions to access files in vmw v8 * added switches, and packed sfx minus UPX to speed-up file extraction|execution * updated script, & patcher manifests
the only smaller version i have noticed is called VMware Workstation v.8.0.0.471780 ENG.exe Size:294.43 MB
I guess that only the os images (windows, linux, etc.) have been removed? Sad to see that no one seems to be able to trim it down like in all the older versions (v7 micro with ~40mb was nice...).
@Jay69V... I decided to download the Apple Mac OS unlocker files from the link you posted to have a look. The patcher appears to overwrite the files it targets, rather than patch specific bytes, at specific locations, and in particular, I noticed that when it patches the 32 bit vmware-vmx.exe, the new exe has a file size the same as 64bit exe.... it grows from 14,736kb to 16,078kb. Anyway, I decided to take an original 64bit vmware-vmx.exe and let it patch that and compare the differences, in that file and the others, and noted that it only needs to patch 66 bytes in various files, and only 1 byte in the vmwarebase.dll...so, I decided to compile a patcher to target the required files searching for the specific locations to edit the 66 bytes, and 1 byte required...the result was that the 32bit exe remained its original size, as did the others, and vmware appears to offer the Apple Mac OS menu as intended. I will test more, when I get the time. I'm running|testing on Win 7 Ult x32bit. Edit 24|10|11:- It appears that the files only require to be patched with 21bytes (1byte for vmwarebase.dll)... I get the Apple OS menu, and can go as far as setting it up in vmware, but I don't have VT enabled, so I can't test further.
Download link for patcher not working I managed to get the BIOS files from the alternate link but the 7z package doesn't seem to include the patcher. Please advise. Thanks, Chris
Awesome! Everything worked out of the box. XP in VM (still running on the hardware!) booted right up, no activation dialog anymore
Hello, sadly this release do not work for me. VMware Workstation 8.0.0 build-471780, Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate, English Language. Apparently everything seems to work, the vmware-vmx file seems patched (it grows lenght), then when I start the Windows 7 guest machine SLIC bios still report INTEL. I also try to use the "M" option with no luck. I downloaded the program version posted few posts back by one Moderator, so it seems the right binary. I don't have idea about what I should done to fix this problem. This happen with any option of the bios: Asus, Acer, everything is the same fault for me. Any idea and help in debigging this problem? PS: I used the old version of the program with luck on VMware Workstation 7 so I'm not new to the program.
Thankx! That was exactly the problem! Renaming the debug file fixed the problem! Now... I have to check why debug mode was on, considering it was not checked in the VM properties! Great work as usual! Just a question: If i want more options to be enabled in your patcher, like "m2 sp on" have I to write them with commas or simply with a space? Thankx again for your fantastic job!
