    Please could you add the following DMI into the next build?
    This is to allow activation of Windows7 XP mode under VMWare

    Unfortunately its not possible. There's no room in the bios for that string.

    Downloaded and used the latest build under Vista 64 bit Home Premium and running VMware 7.0.0 build-203739. No problems encountered at all... works great!

    Any plans to add "Gateway" to the list of SLIC 2.0-2.1 bios mods? Hint-Hint ;)

    Your BIOS for activating the XP-Mode works fine - I tested it with VMWARE WS 6.0.0 build 45731.

    *.vmx
    Code:
    bios440.filename = "XP_VIRTUALv314.ROM"
    MGADiag.exe output
    Code:
    Diagnostic Report (1.9.0011.0):
    -----------------------------------------
    WGA Data-->
    Validation Status: Validation Control not Installed
    Validation Code: 0

    No shoot???

    I'll have to try it with Acer, I've just been using HP-Compaq for all OEM acts in VMware... I really don't mind changing one little .xrm-ms between VMware and my actual machine though... USB keys make it simple! :rolleyes:

    -EDIT: Acer is a "No Go" with my Gateway license file. It's an older SLIC 2.0 but that doesn't affect the OEM HP I'm using it accepts 2.0-2.1 no prob... hahaha my luck.

    Should be 2.1 :)

    Here is a Gateway-Emachine.xrm-ms from Win 7 Repository should be 2.1 (not exactly sure how to check for 2.1 still runnin' Vista 64 and very happy... I've been dragging my feet to upgrade to Win 7 (anyone care to nudge me over the fence on that one?)

    Hope this helps?

    EDIT: I'm just gonna go have a smoke now... let ya know when I find the bios

    Works for me

    Sounds like a good Win 7 review... I played around with it while it was in beta and RC but since not much of my software wanted to play along I switched back to Vista... since then most of the software I use has released updates to Win 7 compatibility so I'm about ready to try it again. Too bad I have an Intel motherboard or I'd update the SLIC in the bios from 2.0 to 2.1... I'll just have to use a loader I guess.

    Sorry 'bout the cert... for some reason I had it stuck in my mind that it was the .bin for Gateway 2.1 SLIC.
