    Hi there,

I've been tinkering around all day trying to update my Dell Inspiron 9400 from XP to W 7. First I installed 7 and updated my drivers, then when I ran the loader (I have tried 2 different ones) it does a forced restart. When the computer starts up again it flashes the "Dell" Screen and then goes black (not like, off black, but black) then it repeats over and over again instead of actually starting.

I have tried a system recovery but the only thing that gets my system to start up is completely reinstalling w 7. Does anybody have any tips?

    Thanks!

    That's the one I used :(

I'm trying the command prompts in the post "won't start after loader? try this:"

It seems to haved worked... my computer is running a windows memory diagnostics tools. Hopefully after this it will start!

When your computer boots up, press F8, select disable automatic restart on system failure, a blue screen should appear, let us know the error code.

You can use DAZ Loader, If your computer doesn't reboot after installing loader press R during post restart then RED SCREEN will come out then choose Windows without loader then try again if softmod by default did not work try other option on the loader like ALTERNATIVE METHOD, OLDER METHOD. don't try custom method unless you know how to do it.. F8 doesn't work for my computer. It only has F2 and F12 and "disable automatic restart on system failure" is not an option. When I run diagnostics it detects no errors. I'm going to try again with the "older method" and I will let y'all know how it goes.:D

Yes I've noticed now that although it gets my computer to actually boot up, it eliminates the activation and then I'm back at square 1. I'm going to reload and try your tip. Thanks!

When you use the loader sure as Daz, just install the certification and serial, no loader, If your slic is 2.1... :)

Thanks for all your help guys. None of the loaders worked out for me so I wound up downloading a .torrent that came activated and that eliminated the loading problem all together.
