The download links no longer work save for the media fire one. I don't know if it is an older version, but it kills my Aero whenever I install it. Luckily I backed up the file it replaces. Can anyone upload the latest version of this or fix the download links?
I reccomend that you use installer by _AstraL_. And if that fails, restart the computer(if you have over written the original aero, select a basic one before restarting), and if that still does not fix it, uninstall uxstyles and start again.
It still kills my Areo. Is it designed to do this? Everything goes to classic mode. I have installed UxStyle. Is this being tested on RTM 7600? That is what I am using.
The original made by tomorrow your suppose to go to basic then do the file copy then swap back to aero and reboot for good measure. I've not had any issues at all with it.
I have done that. I will try the updated one mentioned above. I don't know why it wouldnt work. It almsot looks like XP when you haven't patced Ux to use none signed themes. Is everyone else using RTM? Perhaps UxStyle doesn't support RTM 7600? Edit: I was right, it was UxStyle. I had to log on as administrator uninstall and install it. Running as Admin I have noticed sometimes doesn't perform the same as actually loggin on as the admin. If I ever reinstall 7 I will most likely just move into the admin account. P.S. This was happening before I tried the installers so I don't think they are to blame, but they do differentiate between the x32 and x64 versions of UxStyle?
It works with rtm, try to restart before you change the theme, I had a similar problem when i was first installing the themes.
Best method is the manual one, disable aero, installed the appropriate unsigned theme service (x86 or x64), browes to windows\resources\themes\aero take ownership of aero.msstyles and rename. Now place the new aero file with the color of your choice in that directory. Re-enable aero and reboot. Once you have installed the service and taken ownership of the original .msstyles file changing colors is as simple as disabling aero, replacing file and re-enabling aero.
What I meant (poor phrasing on my part) was "Is there some way to make your own colors that's not going to have the problems we saw earlier in this thread?"
