Hmmm, I got similar results - no VMWare here. After applying the UxStyle patch following the directions, I do in fact get the light blue progress bars. However, after installing the dark blue progress bars following those instructions, I get the clear/no color bars. I had to do a System Restore to get back to the basic green in order to start over and figure out what I am doing incorrectly. The steps are clear and I am following them exactly. 1-Before installing the UxStyle patch and just installing the dark blue progress bars (incorrect procedure), I got dark blue progress bars in a broken aero interface. 2-After installing the UxStyle patch and then the dark blue progress bars, I have a functional aero interface but bars with no color at all. This is embarrassing as I am very technically literate (or so I thought ) and I can not seem to figure this out. I am going to keep at this as the blue bars are worth the effort. I really do not like the green bars in Windows 7.
Point 1 is normal when using an unpatched aero.msstyles. Point 2 shouldn't be happening when having applied the ux patch Do you use anolis or Restorator ? Cause with anolis I had that issue too. Not with Restorator... Are you by any chance using win7 x64 ? I find this very strange, cause the instructions are correct. But it could be, and this is hypothetical, it COULD be that when doing this with the standard aero theme, this issue arrises. When rightclicking desktop, "Personalization", there are two sections : Aero themes and My themes. I have a theme applied that resides in the "My themes" section, not one of the standard themes from the "Aero themes" section. Gonna try this out myself to see if it could be causing this...
Nope, that's not the culprit. If you want I can give you my aero.msstyles. But mind that it is x86, not x64...
I actually run x64 unfortunately. I was able to get the blue progress bars but as far as changing it to your version it is like the colors are not binding to the theme or something.
Ah, now I get it. When running x64, u HAVE TO make a copy of the original aero.msstyles file FIRST, and save it somewhere in a different folder. Then edit that file, and when done choose "save", not "save as". After that take control of the original file in the aero folder, and rename it. Now copy/paste your edited file in the aero folder and reboot. If you don't do this, when "saving as..." the file will be converted to a 32bit file by restorator, and that'll f**k up your aero. So first make a copy of the original, then edit and save. Then replace it...that way it stays 64bit. I thought this was mentionned in the instructions...will check that.
I am using a theme from My Themes (Default aero theme with a darker blue color) The machine on which I am trying this is 32-bit Win 7; however, I also want to get the darker blue progress bars working on a 64-bit Win 7 machine. I have not tried that yet. I used Restorator to assign the dark blue bars. The only thing I have done that differs from the instructions for both applying the patch and applying your dark blue bars is that I did not install the registry hack to take ownership of the aero.msstyles file. I manually took control by assigning my login as the owner through the file properties>security tab. Either way, the result is that I owned the file.
Well, it looks like the light blue bars by Tomorrow is as a far as I can go; at least they are better than the green ones . Installing the dark blue bars results in no color progress bars at all - even using the registry hack - and the need to hard reset my laptop in order to restart. Genuine555: I'd be interested in trying your aero.msstyles file to see if I get the same results. I am using x86 Win 7 on this laptop.
Yea, same here dude. I can get tomorrow's bars but not the dark ones. I can even get the black ones though.
Yeah, will try to do that. right now i'm angry. someone gave me neg. reps without reason, in some thread from weeks ago (i mean what the F!!) Just cause I said removewhat is one possability among loaders, and he disagrees. Not happy at all, and can't even see who did it.
Damn, bro, that's very thoughtfull. Thank u very much. Please try the msstyles i uploaded for you above. It'll work
Does that work for x64 though? Oh my bad, never mind lol. NP with the rep either dude. I think it sux when kids come on here with nothing better to do then to bash everyone down.
Damn. I see an error in the bars. the glow that goes left to right when copying is f**ked up. need to fix that, then re-upload.
