I tihink it is concern over killing legitimate activations, it seems like the new WAT is trying to catch up with identifying bios mods and emulated slic's but they are still having issues with false positives while bios mods and loaders go undetected.
Yep, but he is being carefull not to accuse the guy of using a loader or pirating, just telling him to use the nonexistant COA key and pointing the finger at the OEM. All advice that will do the guy no good. This begs another question, why would someone go the the MS forum for validation issues when they have a pretty good idea why they are not valid.
Guess, eh... Lots of stupid people in our world nowadays Anyway this guy seem to have installed Windows 7 on a ancient Inspiron 6000 which seem to be sold with XP only, if i were the MS employee i would help him either... it's just too obvious this is user (stupidity) related
I guess allot of people have bought "fully activated" copies of "legitimate" windows 7 off of ebay and Ioffer, the may be dupes but I guess they're innocent dupes, probably what keeps the MS goons on the forum from outright accusing people. THey have enough PR problems with WAT anyway, can't be seen on the 6' oclock news making aunt milly cry because they accused her of being a poor somali fisherman (See, got that in there somewhere Jinje)
did you use the same key when you downgraded? yup now showing for everyone in updates around here but left unchecked by default even though its important. i have to check it to install it
Hi I have also seen this and installed today. and I am surprised nothing wrong has happened. Then I restarted the computer and check the status and its still says activated.
My Asus notebook survived. Not surprised actually because I modified the BIOS with manufacturer specific SLIC and SLIP. Just to play safe, I used the Asus OEM key too. Might try it on my Dell notebook. No need to modify the BIOS for that one since it already came with SLIC 2.1. What I'm not going to try (in the near future at least) is my Zotac motherboard based PC.
Contrary to the other poster . Just for the sake of fun. MB : ASUS - desktop (home made) SLIC 2.1 /cert / key >> DELL WIN 7 Ultimate. updated system still genuine . SO with ASUS MB you don't really need ASUS SLC 2.1/cert /key to make w7 genuine with WAT.
