Daz, My Sony Vaio with Win7 is activated with latest Daz loader. I thought it was activated the best a loader can do (default settings with matching sony certificate & sony key). Now you add this and I find I have got OEM within the activation ID. What do u say? Not everybody who use the loader get that value in activation ID? Does this mean that if everything was correct then using a loader should not give OEM in activation ID and is it possible that I can get an activation ID that does not have OEM by using loader in some better way? Or were you only referring to those who bought pre-activated copies & those copies shouldn't have contained this value? Please clear this confusion.
im pretty sure he means the oem versions around that are pre activated with a loader. though i could be wrong
Should agree that WAT fix seems like a research feature prior SP1. Installed it on slic2.1 and everything is ok. Suppose that no one should install it to decrease number of useful info to M. This update didn’t appear on ws08 (ie vista) servers.
thanks2daz that simply means that every OEM activation will have it, so not only using a loader, but even using a BIOS mod, a bootmgr modification, the driver integration and so on... As long as your activation is made using a SLIC 2.1 and an OEM-SLP key you'll always have those kind of ID, that is exactly the same kind of ID that "regular" OEM PCs have.
OK out of curiosity I ran WU and I don't get the option to install WAT at all. I checked my updates I already installed and it's not somehow miraculously installed itself. Bit weird. Ultimate 64 using a BIOS activation here.
I've got the non genuine black screen, no loaders, been bios with old (supposedly blacklisted) lenovo key. Wonder if a different key will work?
... doesn't like everybody know that pre-activated installs(old loaders) and blacklisted key are like prime targets???
Before you format and reinstall, try changing the key to a Retail one. Don't think it matters if it will activate or not. But if you can use a Retail key to remove the "non-genuine" marker, reboot, then change the key to a non-blacklisted OEM SLP key - this may well work.
I totally agree with you. The lesser the number of people that install it, the lesser the number of useful info for m$, and the better for loaders
I got this earlier from windows update. Said screw it and tried to see if I would pass. I am running a "pre activated" "AIO" iso. It failed validation for the key at first, which in turn deactivated me. Downloaded Daz loader 1.7.7r. Applied bios mod for Asus as my motherboard is a ASRock A790GMH/128M.. Rebooted, "wasn't genuine", checked online validation... passed. So I guess I am in the clear? System Info: AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus Quad @ 2.6ghz ASRock A790GMH/128M 4Gb DRR2 Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Yeah, but been activated all this time. Changed bios, cert and key, OK now. Just was being lazy I suppose.
have just run this on a dell inspiron 1525 and has come back none genuine is there a new dell key ? for ultimate x32 thanks didnt seem to like using an Acer key either was modded with files from here and so was my acer which still flags genuine :s
Thanks. Your answer was very clear. Don't know how I derived such a foolish idea out of Daz's post that having "OEM" in the activation ID can be an unusual thing & not something genuine. The more I think of this the more silly it seems. Its something or the other about this WAT that makes you suspicious and lifts your eyebrows especially if you are not very technical.
Hi ! I had my windows 7 ultimate x64 running activated without any problems (with hotcarl's loader) since today , when the "not genuine" message appeared. I tried several loaders found around the web (daz / orbit and a few other ones) but I can't get rid of the activation message after booting my system. I'm using RemoveWat224 at the moment which helps me to run Windows like before .. or almost. I noticed the logon takes longer as before and I have no "Genuine message" in my system priorities + once I re-open a new loader programm the application isn't able to retrieve the activation status. Any ideas or suggestions ? Thanks
Harder to do now that RemoveWAT is installed but if you wanted to go the loader approach then you need to uninstall RemoveWAT and all loaders first, reboot and then install a loader under one of the activation modes (default, alternative, older or forceful). It can come down to the SLIC placement which each of the modes can have an effect on. Brand matchups can also help although the only brand that I have seen the most reports of issues with is Intel... *Edit* Oh and Everest can help determine if the SLIC is reported as emulated, if it is then it's likely best you try a different activation mode.
