run the tool then in the last tab click the copy button and paste it into a notepad

dont we also think there would be more people getting hit with this being bios modded or are they just not posting they are??

Interesting! The update is still coming thru as important but it is NOT checked for auto install.
MS might be getting a pile of Cr*p over this

Yup maybe! - but we need a whole lot more info to trace a common cause! A key (released after W7 launch being blacklisted is probably the least likely IMO...

The user - doclucas used a Professional OEM key to activate Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. Please see my post #2288.

Please don't keep spreading misinformation. It is an ULTIMATE key, it was also installed on my Dell laptop that comes with Win7 Ultimate x64 pre-installed.

They can probably look at the bios revision date to see if it is new like within parameters. Like if you have a 2006 or 2007 bios revision then they could flag it cause no motherboard back then had slic 2.1. I am guessing that they can also look at each motherboard serial and see if that particular serial is supposed to have slic 2.1 in it. Other then that IDK but I would keep watching that activation status to make sure.
