Exactly correct ... and is the point I was trying to make in earlier posts. Everything is speculation and guessing until official release of WAT with servers turned-on Threre is absolutely no point of claims like "well, my status shows as absolutely genuine" and "I have matching slic; cert; and serial, so I am totally OK" .... let MS release and activate the friggin thing before we see WAT it can and can't do
so the bottom line for all of this is let us all wait and see.. anyway worst comes to worst, the UPDATE is voluntary so don't install the update yet.. hehehhe let daz and hazar and the rest of the guys test it. happy posting people!
yeah ill be testing it with about 5 modded bios' as well. ill just make a backup and then restore after if i need to.
you know after readind part of this thread i think i did a smart thing installing linux ubuntu 10.04 parallel to my seven and in fact i think it's much better then seven no poor painter no poor rdp with no simultanius connections(view mode)no auto arrange in files and folders no windows live utilities no poor windows media player 12 or poor aero compiz takes aero with no effort what so ever no cmd don't work in full screen no crazy permissions problems and not any of the other problem poeple have with windows 7 like acrivation and other things just one clean well thought out no regisrty self cleaning self maintaing operating system. and i'v been a fan of microsoft products sinec dos 6.22 and windows 3.11 until seven came along and dissapointed me in so many ways.
Then maybe you would feel more comortable on a ubuntu forum, I have used both, 7 is more appealing to the mainstream market. Direct X game support is problematic in Ubuntu. You can do much more in Ubuntu than you can in WIndows but most people will never need 99% of what is available for Ubuntu.
nice point aviramof.. hehehe i will be staring to download ubuntu for a while... just to make sure.. i already did an image backup of my system using acronis..
i am registerd on ubuntu forum but unfortunally i still need seven for some small things here and there and i'm hopping that once ubuntu 10.04 will release a final version that i would need even less things from windows 7 and you can't deny the fact that microsoft did a lot of mistakes in this windows like the auto arrange which cannot be disable the task bar that can't be moved and many other things that people don't like in this OS. but because of the things i still need i'm still hopping not to have WAT problems with seven i'm currently using removeWAT 2.1 let's hope it hold off microsoft attempts for anti piracy wehther they are hidden or not. p.s forgot to mention no ext2/3/4 and other files systems support make you wonder what does windows seven have except good gaming support does it?
You can change the dmi date I have AMIBCP and window will show the new date but like daz said if the slic is in the wrong place it can get tag
task bar that cant be moved? you can move it very easy...and auto arrange is not always on. you can turn it on or off and if its off it is off. not sure why yours is different if it is
so will we be able to move the slic to the correct place in all bios? for all brands or is this impossible for some?
Maybe impossible for some non brand boards Like paymyrent board Is from 2005 with hp slic and was having a fit over it but now is ok on msdn key my gateway is fine with it 4200 because it use the same board as the 4300 and it has 2.1 already but acer didnt update bios for4200 but got the upgrade kit to Seven so it to hard to id my machine because both are Foxconn (Bengal) RS780 Motherboard
about the task bar i checked again and it does move but there was a time that he didn't or i had other problem wuth it i had a thread about it in windows 7 catagory forum but any way disabling auto arrange in files and folders not on desktop is impossible i tried several things and nothing works.
for the taskbar right click on it select properties you will see a drop down box for the location on the screen.
i can simply unlock it then drag it to the side or the top but there was a problem with that in the past i'm sure of this as for ubuntu i don't have to worry about bote problems in fact the only problems i just have is how to get windows 7 recognize my ext4 partition and when ubuntu developers team would release gflrx driver for ubuntu 10.04 alpah for my ati screen card let's hope it want take them too long.
so far today no warnings for me. ill check the firewall logs though to see if it went through for whatever reason though my firewall is set to ask. and it always does. i wonder because this is built into windows though if a lot of people's firewalls will let it through as part of the safe or whitelisted windows stuff depending on the firewall. paymyrent i asume that was a outbound message correct? did you attempt to allow it to see what would happen? they say the servers are not up yet but with ms i always wonder if its true or not.
the ip that it tries to connect to gives me this in FF Code: Invalid URL The requested URL "/", is invalid. Reference #9.732004c.1266047342.f9d137a
Being de-activated at the moment when the servers are probably not in place yet isn't the issue - it is the continual spying by M$ and the fact that WGA for XP has been around for years and STILL marks LEGITIMATE systems as pirated and causes headaches to fix. If WGA still gets it wrong what is to stop this latest spyware ? I hope this leads to a mass migration away from Windows - I will never buy their products again.
yeah we see xp systems a lot come in for this still to this day that are legit oem machines from hp or lenovo etc
