I have to DEFINITELY disagree with you on the satellite hacks. But thats for another forum, thread etc. Let's stay on topic. I just wanted to reply. But take my word for it.
I've had it with MS. I'm sick and tired of their unfair practices, their utter disregard for privacy and their monopoly. I was waiting for Win7 to RTM ever since I first got the RC. I heard that students will get Win7 for $50 - a price that I can afford, plus 7 seemed like a worthwhile OS. When the RTM came out, I waited for an official announcement from MS for our country, but there was no news. Come Oct 22, and still nothing. No worries, I just used one of the loaders here and was using 7 just fine. Of course, I knew eventually MS would catch up and start taking action. Anyways, I didn't mind because I still planned on buying 7. Days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months, but MS never introduced the Win7 discount for us students, even though their website has the scheme for other products (MS Office for ~$60). Finally, I learnt that they won't be giving away 7 for throwaway prices (like they did in the US) and the only "offer" for students is an *upgrade* version (that's anyways over > $100). So the plan's really simple isn't it, they try to offer upgrade versions at so-called "lower" prices so once you get sucked into it you have no choice but to continue using and upgrading MS products. And when you use programs like DAZ's loader, you're only helping build MSs' ecosystem. Did you know that Bill Gates was once quoted that he'd rather see us pirate a copy of Windows than switch over to Linux/Mac? Yeah. Anyways, I quit. I've had enough with these cat-and-mouse games. It was the ultimate push I needed to finally make the switch to Linux. I'm now happy to announce that I'm out of my distro-hop period - I found a nice, warm, welcoming home in OpenSUSE. All my needs are being met, with Wine doing an admirable job at running all of my fav Windows games and programs (with some tweaking/hacking involved, but it's worth it). It's amazing how each and every release is leading to more perfection! I've learnt so much and have been so impressed that I managed to convert 3 of my non-techy friends over to Linux - and although they're happy, I'm even more happier than them - no more panic calls, no more "help, I'm infected by a virus or something", no more "why has my PC become so slow, can you fix it please?". So thank you, Daz/Hazar/Orbit/et al for your work so far... I wish you guys all the best, and I too suggest you lend some of your talent towards the open source cause instead of wasting time and actually helping MS. Yes, you are helping MS by allowing people to continue to live in the MS ecosystem. The Open Source community needs talented folk like you guys.. There's lots of work to be done, and trust me, your efforts won't go unnoticed or unrewarded. Plus, it looks really good on the resume
LOL look at this.. well maybe.... it should have read 0x0000000000 for both according to what people are saying though that could be wrong yours has a 4fe01 in it, did you actually check the logs in the event viewer to see if there is any more info? anyone know if there is any way to force wat to run again??
How about uninstalling and reinstalling the WAT update? havent tried that misself though...sitting on my xp system right now.
This is what PARADOX or one of the other scene groups released for Vista a long time ago. The SLIC tables were emulated via a driver loaded by Vista. Microsoft killed this way of activating very quickly.
It's a good idea to turn off automatic updates regardless of the upcoming WAT update; that way you can see what's going to be installed first (remember the WGA Notification on XP?). With regards to the robustness of the loaders, we'll have to wait and see after this actually becomes active by downloading updates from Microsoft. I'm assuming the tool will also collect signatures, send them to MS for evaluation, and in the next update it will be marked non-genuine. Unless one of the BIOS Masters does the impossible and finds a way to reverse the PLATFORM.BIN file for an installed BIOS, I am going to be stuck with a loader (Sony has never released a BIOS update for my 2007-vintage laptop).
Dell Also Never Update A Bios Version Until We Do It Manually.. So Its Good To Install loader and Windows Update On?!!!!

About that MGAdiag reports, until there is new version, i wouldnt belive in to them 100% (even tho latest version 1.9 from MS was signed on 21.jan 2010). But what bothers me and tells me its not 100% compatible with Win7 is OEM Activation 2.0 Data--> BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes hey its 2.1...! Just wait like 10 more hours and then genuine page on MS will be avilable...
