This is why from now on it's only winning the short term battle. Let me fix your comment for you so you see the "bigger" picture. ...(and MS dont have from every computer with MS preinstalled a signature....* yet *) All MS has to do is make addendum to their license agreement with the big OEMs that they(the OEMs) must now provide proper info and/or hashes for any/all models using OEM COA. If MS did something like that, they could easily just start slow with current models going forward but require the OEMS to provide for recent years backlog as time goes on. This way they can pinpoint specific machines with specific bios to filter out modded machines. And yes, they would be extremely cautious in this endeavor but it doesn't mean they wouldn't do it. All it means is that right now time is on your side but down the road things could change with one update to WAT. Cat and mouse game for sure. Will be interesting to see what transpires as time goes forward. .
What interest do big OEMs have in cooperating with MS on this? OEMs are as important to MS as MS is to them.
You are absolutely right. The same I wrote 100 pages before! The "I called" hardcore people with a Biosmod (who risk to brick the motherboard) they will be ever with Win 7 ok. Another story will be Win 8.
WRONG! They cannot know (yet or in future) if my system is bought or pirated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You wrote: If MS did soething - and I tell you they have too much fear to flag millions of PCs non genuine who have bought it from a big company (like Asus, HP and so on) If you see the Winblog how many people got non genuine and buyed official Win 7????? A real Hash Database I think that will also not come with Win 8. If you change anything on your hardware (a new Graphic Card for example) then you will get non genuine though you are have to be genuine. So that will never happen!
Precisely! -signatures does not have to be machine dependant thay are merely an array of ID's that make it unique - ie. millions of machines may have that sig a simple eg. a def that says ( Biosdate >=x, SLIC OEM =y, OEM Cert=y, OEM Pk =y) must match that your signature (if u OEM SLP) - so if you install a Dell key on a HP SLIC/Cert WATU will sit back, scratch it's head and after much deliberation decide mmmm let's black screen this motherf**ker and put a nice fireindy F**k U in the right hand corner. Those paranoid about the info here - just think about the amount of info Uncle Bill's geetting from all the fone-homes... this is a drop in the mighty M$ ocean! Windows 8 with SLIC 2.2? - I think not!
