I noticed that when i did the modify registry trick for classic menu(disable metro apps) , i had this message on my desktop. They say that i will be fired. or they will terminate my contract
Observations Build is expected to be buggy assuming otherwise would be wrong. Common issue seems to be metro apps no longer working, if your graphics drivers and resolution are sorted then just create a new user account. I had this issue while testing SYSPREP, the existing User account will no longer run the Metro Apps. The Setup process after sysprep will ask for a product key, just skip it and the installation will default to activated state. I am hoping the MS are just trying to show case the Metro Features for tablets, that is the focus of there development with ARM support etc. Some of us will want the best of both worlds and have the Metro Start and the Old Desktop Start Menu. The one feature that I was hopimg MS would have thought of is Tabbed browsing in Windows Explorer
are you deploying a 64bit ISO on a 32bit OS ? if so, they are trying to execute the bootsect.exe inside the ISO which is a 64bit exe and wont run on your 32bit OS, you can grab a 32bit version of bootsect.exe and execute it by youself.
When you use SystemReset you will need to activate Win8 again. I hope that this will change in the final Version. Otherwise it's useless.
No need for that, it's just prompting as it's modifying the bootsector on the USB stick to make it bootable media. It doesn't happen on Win 7.
There is no need to execute anything manually, all he's trying to do is make a bootable USB installer, and on Win 7 he doesn't get prompted about the bootsector, must be a new Win 8 feature.
Prompt to confirm delete files is not showing up here, someone has any idea how I can fix it? delete key send item directly to recycle bin.
Rightclick the Recycle Bin on your Desktop and go to properties, add a checkmark to "Display delete confirmation dialog"
No its not about any feature of Win 8, 'Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool' always execute bootsect.exe on the ISO to make the USB bootable, and since the bootsect.exe on the x64 Win8 DP ISO is a 64bit exe, it will fail to execute on 32bit OS. no matter whether you are deploying an ISO of Win7 or Win8, its all about 32bit/64bit ISO. Did he said he didnt get this error before ? is that a 32bit ISO or 64bit ISO ?
Well I did it in WDP x64 without dev tools when I reinstalled after downloading the x64 iso with dev tools and it prompted me. That's why I don't think it has anything to do with x86 vs x64. Judging by his screenshot he denied the prompt hence got that error. When I allowed it Win 7 USB Download tool completed without a hitch. I believe it is about a new Win 8 feature that lets you know when any app tries to modify a bootsector.
