Anyone knows what is that means? Hello I was not very happy with the new start menu and i tried to switch back to the classic one. Well searching, i found "windows_8_start_menu_switcher_by_ruanmei-d49wt38.zip" a small program which changes a registry key allowing the use of classic (win7) or new (wdp) start menu. However, it works just fine, only than after reboot it shows up a new watermark. What is that means? By the way, I use WDP (upgrade of Win7) since 1 week, without any problem (OS and stability), very smooth, stable on this machine, dual-boot with Linux. Thanks.
Thanks, for your quick answer, it kinda worked. I mean it removed the MS Confidential watermark but not the build/version one. Anyway, I can live with the last one. Does anybody have any idea about what happened? Because I was looking on web and don't found anything yet about this strange watermark. Even for you it was strange. Btw, i noticed that the version number changed after the first actualization (not the build version, only what comes after win8m3.) - now is 110912. Very good tool, thanks for it and thanks Canouna for the language packs. I tried PT-BR, FR-FR, ES-ES and it worked fine for me.
You are most welcome. It was strange, I think it was a bug from the tool you were using. The version number changes after you install updates from Windows Update.
May it be caused by a bug from the tool. Anyway, take a look at the MS answer: " That is just a normal pre-release watermark. There is no way to get rid of it that I know of (but I don't know why you would need to). The authorized use (including the end of life) was outlined in the terms of use you agreed to when you installed the product. As long as you aren't selling, reverse engineering, or otherwise violating the terms, you're fine. Really all it is doing now is preventing you from mis-representing this as a final build and selling a system with is installed (which violates the terms)." Strange thing I didn't found any reference about it on the web for the version I have (build 8102), only for the 7850 beta. It seems that I activate/changed something and this thing appeared on my screen. Wish to know what.. I'm just curious about this because is quite unusual.
If your "RPEnabled" registry setting is set to "0" (giving you the normal Start Menu), you'll get the larger "Confidential" watermark.
Sure, but I don't know why you'd want to. The built-in Win8 DP 8102 Defender is essentially the same thing.
Yep. Do you know there is a way to fix a corrupt iso by using a torrent? Search about it in this thread.
In WDP, if I browse to "C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files", I get the Windows Vista Explorer (no ribbons, menubar in black).
