Nice detailled steps! +1! But before trying your solution, I would like to test it first but with using Hyper-V, so I need to convert it back your .wim file to a .vhd file. I tried the Convert-Wim2VHD.ps1tool, without success...; I then would like to try the wim2vhd tool, but MS retired it from the web...so I'm stuck with your .wim image Any tip how to do that?
“The process C:\Windows\system32\wlms\wlms-emb.exe (ASUS-074213) has initiated the restart of computer ASUS-074213 on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Other (Planned) Reason Code: 0x80000000 Shutdown Type: restart Comment: The license period for this installation of Windows has expired. The operating system is shutting down.” => or install windows 8 embedded standard and delete only wlms-emb.exe / use nsudo to remove wlms service
Thank you Sir for your quick and helpfull answer. So I did follow your explanations, but choosed '\PID Key Checker\data\Emb 8\pkeyconfig_Windows_Embedded_8_Standard.xrm-ms' as the embedded directory seemed more appropriate than '\data\8.0'. Rebooted, checked 'slmgr /dvi' : still Activation needed. I then tested with the '\8.0' dir you mentionned, reboot, same result. Tried to launch 'PID Key Checker' but the Net Framework was'nt part of the choosen packages during install, so I may need to reinstall the OS with the NetFW and follow your steps again. Until that, thanks for your help. +1!
Well, as I mentionned in previous post, I DID tested with this key too, I 'm afraid. BTW every pkeyconfig.xrm-ms key comes together with a pkeyconfig-CSVLK.xrm-ms key, shall these be copyied too? Plus, does a tool similar to 'PID Key Checker' exist, but doing the opposite: finding a xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx from a pkeyconfig.xrm-ms key ?
From wikipedia: Windows Embedded 8 Industry is available in Pro, Pro Retail, and Enterprise editions. The Pro and Pro Retail editions are only available pre-installed on OEM devices, while the Enterprise edition is available through the volume licensing channel only. --> your key being OEM, maybe there is no-way to activate a STANDARD by fooling it to PRO on non-OEM hardware? I'm just asking. (yeah I'm noob in this stuff)
