Here's a post-post script on this thread: I tried the gatherosstate/Genuine Ticket method on ANOTHER set of computers, and it won't activate there either. So I've tried it on 3 different manufacturers, and of those, only one managed to activate. The fact I did get it to activate on one set should be proof that I followed the instructions correctly; it just refuses to activate, for whatever reason. For the record, the most recent set of computers I tried it on are made by a Chinese company called "Giada". I have no idea what that has to do with anything, but the moral of this story seems to be this: The gatherosstate/Genuine Ticket works, but it doesn't work on 100% of the computers out there. If you have one made by a big brand, western manufacturer, you should be fine. But lesser known/non-Western brands seem to struggle with it for some reason.

Just tested the genuineticket.xml method and it still works, test system: Toshiba Satellite C670-11N.
@ Enthousiast Right, Toshiba would fit the description of "big brand, western manufacturer", so I'd expect it to work. @ 14971.1k.rs-pre.16 I'm not sure I understand what you are suggesting in your post. Could you explain a little more? Do you reckon I need to update the BIOS or something?
