+1 for Avira free. It has a small footprint, and after I create a path restriction policy to prevent the avnotify from popping up an ad after updates, I have no complaints about it. I used to run Eset and I still think it's a great product, but free trumps it anytime and I think they're about the same performance-wise.
OK, So I have Eset Nod32 on my XP machine and have loved it for years. I have been very tempted to go w/ eset because of that reason and because I have been hearing it so much. I am not sure I want to fork out 30$ for a 1 year subscription though. My second choice based off of posts in the section is Avira because you can get the free version. I am not one to pay for antivirus because I have found too many times in the past that the AV's in general will sometimes find virus that you have to manually fix with no guidelines or it misses the virus's all together. Since none are perfect I would rather a free solution. I must say ESET is TOP notch without a doubt at least the OLD Nod32 2.7. I really appreciate all the ideas you guys have posted. THANKS!
Aviria Antivir Free edition Normally, I use McAfee Enterprise Edition, but the version 8.5i is not supported by W7, so I am using Avira.
win.7, i used Eset Nod32 antivirus v3, i got messages saying this version has compatability issue, and gave some strange numbers and stuff i could not make out and advised me to upgrade so i upgraded to nod32 smart security v4 and it works great
I tried Norton but it just deleted all keygens and serials and stuff and it was just annoying. I think I had a crack for 2010, but I didnt use it long enough to see if it worked. Awful program.
For Vista / XP I've been using AVG, I'm testing Avast(Free Version) on Win 7 X64 now. Looking for a true X64 AV though.
