Are you stating that anything Elon Musk does and gets done when it's supposed to get done is history in the making?
But here is what a study says: https://www.theguardian.com/environ...erm=254884&subid=20906735&CMP=EMCNEWEML6619I2 Electric cars already cheaper to own and run than petrol or diesel – study Exclusive: Pure electric cars cost less over four years than petrol or diesel cars in the UK, US and Japan, researchers say, but China is set to lead the market UK’s best selling electric car, coming behind Telsa’s model S, BMW’s i3 and, the most popular, Nissan Leaf, Renault's Zoe... Pure electric cars receive a sales subsidy of about £5,000 in the UK and Japan and £6,500 in the US. “The subsidies are reasonably expensive at the moment but they are expected to tail off,” said Tate. He estimates that an electric car such as the Nissan Leaf will become as cheap to own and run as a petrol car without subsidy by 2025. Renault expects this to happen in the early 2020s. The push to roll out electric cars, which produce less climate-warming carbon emissions, has been supercharged by concerns over air pollution, particularly from diesel cars. In the UK, where toxic air is at illegal levels in most urban areas, sales of diesel vehicles have plummeted by 30% in the last year while sales of electric cars have soared by 37%. At current rates, sales of electric cars could outstrip diesel cars as early as May 2019, according to analysis by Matt Finch, at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit in the UK: “This date is incredible, as clearly it is only 18 months away.” Tate said: “The challenge is whether the manufacturers have the capacity to generate these vehicles. Demand significantly outstrips supply.”
Waste of time, poor range, no charging points, the UK National Grid wont be able to cope with the demand.
Google it, dear... Or are you too dumb to do it? C'mon, seriously speaking - don't be lazy... https://electriccarsreport.com/2017...tation/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
How so smart is you? You brag about how great EV's are and yet you do not own one? I bet you might even be driving one of 'em diesels too? And.... still can not give a plain answer as to how much it'll cost to re-charge your car, if you would get one...
You are deffo not smart, when you are cutting off your nose to spite your face... I drive a petrol driven car (Toyota Verso) BECAUSE I knew about diesel before I ever bought a car... Now, if you are both lazy AND stoopid, then there's no helping you - how hard is it to search on the net for an answer to... anything really... Wow! P.S. If there is a chance in Hell, my next one will at least be a hybrid (Prius+ or maybe Lexus 400/450 H, even if second hand one?), if we can't afford an electric - but OK, keep posting BS, just to try to rationalise your prejudices...
This what? One can't see the future regardless of what one has at the moment? Just how stoopid are you two?!?
fufufu, children, don`t quarrel now, i don`t have an electric car yet. there is a reason.it has no range. and i hate to walk. i am very much afraid that i will have to exchange my very nice toyota celica for a prius at the orders of the oh-so-green eu. and never mind that they allow the electrickery to be generated with lignite, nuclear energy, or what-have-you. braun [sic] kohle is not gruen [sic] kohle.so that prius pollutes just as much. fact is, that we have no way to store electric energy in a halfway efficient manner.fact is too that i probably will not be allowed to drive into any city with my nice polluting reliable car by the green eu-lobby by 2030 at the latest.on authority of the green-green democratic eu.. so no, electric cars are not an alternative yet.
They are already better and more environment friendly and deffo the future... Yes, electricity generation should be better but... we're going that way...
i just sincerely hope without the eu.. i would like to be able to choose a car that i like. and that is not a prius..
@gorski: You're not 'forced'. You're 'coerced' with guilt about your 'carbon footprint'. And the ones in power who are doing the 'coercing' have a bigger carbon footprint than some of the corporations out there. I bet these same conversations took place 100 years ago when that newfangled 'horseless carriage' came out. That's a different beast because 'emissions' from horses could be used (and sold) as fertilizer. EV technology is just too new to realistically expect people to just throw away fossil fuels and switch. There's no infra-structure here, and the "fuel" still comes from coal / nuclear energy. And there are still engineering hurdles that need to be overcome. In Brooklyn, we call it "Taking from Peter to give to Paul." EDIT: CHEF_KOCH just posted a really cool article about Magnesium batteries. https://newscenter.lbl.gov/2017/11/...olid-state-magnesium-battery-big-step-closer/ "A glimmer of hope."
Horses are a great idea for inner city travel, A totally renewable resource and you can put people to work keeping the streets clean
Electric cars are already cheaper to own and run than petrol or diesel cars in the UK, US, and Japan, new research shows. The lower cost is a key factor driving the rapid rise in electric car sales now underway. At the moment the cost is partly because of government support, but electric cars are expected to become the cheapest option without subsidies in a few years.
