Don't you think that once everybody starts using more and more electric power, that price will go up and gasoline prices will drop? It's a supply and demand thing

    I don't think so

Over the years technology tends to be cheaper, nonetheless agree with you in that petrol prices will drop, contrary to electric power prices.

Capitalism is run by supply and demand. The more demand, the more you can profit. The same goes for video cards and memory. (currently)

to make profits there should be demand, there is demand when prices are low or scares

Electric power will drop when there's more money to invest on it

There is little doubt in my mind that electric cars (like all electric goods) will be getting cheaper and their batteries more powerful, while there is lees scope for conventional ones to come down in price.. But EVs may still remain substantially more expensive to buy for a long time.

As for overall costs, purchase plus fuels plus maintenance over useful life, more long term data will be required for proper comparison.

    Ha!

    https://chargedevs.com/newswire/singapore-electric-tram-charges-in-20-seconds/

Singapore electric tram charges in 20 seconds

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Bolloré subsidiary BlueSG have launched a 22-seat electric shuttle that will be able to recharge in 20 seconds at stations while passengers board.

The NTU-Blue Solutions Flash Shuttle is based on Bolloré’s Bluetram vehicle. Equipped with supercapacitors and an LMP battery developed by Blue Solutions, it has a range of two km, with backup power that provides for an additional 30 km. NTU says the cost of operating Bluetram is five to ten times lower than that of traditional trams, as it does not require infrastructure such as rails or catenaries, and a line can be deployed in a matter of weeks.

    that's crazy
Why rate something for only 2km with a 30km back up?
That just does not add up

Jeez. It serves their purpose, it's cool for those distances - because of fast 20sec recharging tech this is enough. Oh, yeah, they are clever enough to invent the darn thing but they better first consult Amuricans or Europeans as to can they reach the next recharging station because that's higher mathematics... Right...

For crying out loud, why does everybody have to conform to Amurican standards and way of thinking, living/being?!? Or why some Amuricans must judge everything in this world by "this won't work here, hence it makes no sense, it's stoopid"... Honestly...

Because the vast majority does not study or bother to think about alternatives. Vast majority only lives the moment and that's it.

FINALLY AMSTERDAM WILL ALSO GET ITS ELECTRIC BUSES

The Amsterdam public transport company GVB is now also taking measures to replace part of its diesel busfleet with electric buses. It is scheduled that from 2020 onwards the first electric buses will be running on the local lines 15, 22 and 36.

During the coming years, Amsterdam will completely switch over to emission-free buses, the city states, mainly by acquiring more electric buses. These buses will be cleaner, quieter, and more comfortable for both passengers and drivers.

After a careful study It has already been decided that the batteries of these first electric buses will be charged by means of Opportunity Charging. The study leading to this result was carried out by the municipality of Amsterdam, the GVB local public transport company, and the Amsterdam Transport Region.

    And performance improves

Aspark Owl electric supercar does 0-60 in under 2 seconds

    Feb 19, 2018

There's a new electric supercar brewing in Japan, and during testing one of the prototypes managed to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 1.92 seconds.

The car is the Aspark Owl, which was rolled out in concept form during the 2017 Frankfurt auto show, and importantly it's performance gives credence to the claims that electric performance cars will be delivering 0-60 mph times in under 2.0 seconds very soon. Recall, Tesla is promising similar performance for its next-generation Roadster, which is due in 2020. They better hurry.

That's not an everyday car - it's a racing "bolid", the way it is made, so small, so low, uncomfortable...

Let's compare like for like - and especially, let's see how much they cost...

For instance: http://www.rimac-automobili.com/en/supercars/concept_one/ - its price makes it exclusive, sadly...

Or the new Roadster by Tesla, which is a fifth of that price... and all the performance...

Actually, even more of the performance for fith of the Concept One price: https://www.tesla.com/en_GB/roadster?redirect=no
