The future is pretty easy to predict when it comes to performance EVs. For now, in the US at least, EVs able to go 0-60 in well under 3 seconds are rapidly becoming common and will seriously eat into the conventional performance car market over time. I have 0 faith that 10 years from now there will be hundreds of thousands of EVs on the street all capable of 0-60 in 2.2 seconds. IMO, they are letting EVs get away with this for now with the intention of fast EVs displacing ICE performance cars. Once significant headway is made there will be mandated over the air updates "...in the name of safety..." limiting EVs to more pedestrian performance unless GPS information indicates that they are currently at a registered track.
