I have used most of these anti-virus programs and they all hog your memory and if you have any keygens or similar programs, they will remove them and also screw up programs that you have installed and registered using the keygens. I have not found any internet security program that is not a pain in the A$$. My two cents...
My reccomendation... Avast 5.0 with Malwarebytes and windows firewall. Has not let me down in 2 years using this combination.
i think if u r using windows 7, pl look no further n install avira antivir.. its awesome.. really.. n the rest leave it to windows defender.. u wont have any risk of viruses with these 2 updated regularly.. i had used avast, kaspersky, eset nod32, n now m a proud owner of this wonderful n free product...
I see these kinds of posts all over the place.. people are stuck on what they have .. everyone thinks what they have is the best .. and there's nothing anyone can say, regardless of overwhelming facts, that will sway their minds.. so posting what you use and what you think is a waste of time .. Use what you want
Personally i recommend whatever u can afford... AND it depends on the habits of the user. If one does not routinely search for expensive software of the cracked variety there is less of a chance of picking up mal or trickster ware. Most free versions of the top 3 would be fine. Look for one that can not be cracked... imho, any Security solution that is easily exploitable is not worth your hard earned money! If you are going to pay for any software this year it should be for your pc's protection.
Personally I would go with Kaspersky IS 2010. I have tried various other software like eset, norton, mcafee, avast, and avg but none of them detected as much web attacks as Kaspersky did. I am even talking about java based exploit attacks. Yes it slows your computer down somewhat compared to other products but it is still worth it if your computer is fast enough to run it. Plus I don't was to go warez here but there are many trial reset programs for kaspersky 2010
An Internet Security program is only as good as the person who is using it, and knows what is happening they all come up with false positives e.c.t. MS do a good job with security essentials and windows inbuilt firewall. I have tried them all over the years symantec anti virus corporate, good on resources but you need version for different OS I,E, XP Vista and not totally compatible with windows 7 also x86 and x64 versions no good for anyone doing unattended installs. I am back to basics now Avast home free edition, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and windows firewall no problems at all.
- Firefox or Opera - Microsoft Security Essentials - Malwarebytes - free version - Windows 7 Firewall Controll - free version or Comodo Firewall - Sandboxie (just for keygens and similars)
Why not use Kapersky instead of MSE and sandboxie. Kill 2 birds with one stone lol. KIS 2010 has a virtual service that acts just like sandboxie
I've used several of these in the last month or two. I'm finding what I feel are best possible versions with leaked serials if need be and trying them out. So far, I can say ESET seemed to be lightest on resources. Installed 2 different versions and both of them had a little quirk on install and an occasional freeze. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and it is the most sensitive laptop I have ever used. I used Norton for years in a corporate environment and hated it and swore that I would never use it again. Went for it about a month ago and had one of the best runs with NIS 2010 that I have had soo far. They must have fired everyone and started from scratch and they did a hell of a job. You can find the program, but every "cr**k" (if you want to call it that) was for 90 days and that was it. i would have to put NIS 2010 over ESET right now. Trend IS 2010 seems a little harder to find and haven't had a chance to run it yet. Had KIS 2010 first and was pretty well pleased with it to and my opinion on newer version compared to older is night and day. Not near the resource hog as it used to be. Seemed like I had to tweak settings a little more than I wanted to. Using Avira Premium 9 right now and it has only been a week, but it is going well. Gave me free upgrade to version 10 a couple of days ago and all it took was one click and done. Someone said earlier that it was an individual type thing and I totally agree. Go to AV Comparitives or some other reputable site and scope out the top 6 or 7 and pick 3 or 4 of them and find a copy or get a trial and use it and pick your own. Then there is no doubt which one is best. It's which ever one you pick. Right now I'm probably leaning toward NIS 2010 (I'm surprised as you are) because they have a 3 license version (me and the 2 kids), which makes it very economical. Also, Avira Premium Suite because it just seems to run well and it scans pretty fast I'm pretty sure when I'm more comfortable with the whole scope of security, and decide on what email system I'm going to use and more comfortable with firewalls, that I will not use a suite because I believe they all have their strong points and their weak points. Then I will test Anti-virus, spyware/malware and firewall programs individually and then pick the best and be done with it. A little more than my 2 cents worth, but that's all it is as there is alot more talent on this thread than I'll ever have.
In my point of view, KIS is a resource hog. Also there are a lot of resources that you can change by "common sense" = less clicks, clicks, think, read, clicks, deny, permit. And about that UI? Man! Kis was good in the past. Version 2007 and previous.
