Avira Antivirus 10 free, Windows 7 firewall in advanced mode to get bi-directional functionality, Superantispyware free, Spyware Blaster free.
ive been using Outpost security suite for four years now and it never failed me. i say its one of the best.
Norton AntiVirus 2010 provides fast, responsive defense against all types of malicious software. The feature of this anti virus software. * Advanced antivirus with anti-spyware * Best proactive protection * Rapid pulse updates every 5 to 15 minutes * Rootkit detection, two way firewall * Defends against Web-based attacks * Automatic Virus Pattern Updates
Personally I use Norton 360 4.0 because it works perfectly and only uses about 12 - 50Mb of RAM (according to Task Manager).
I still like Avira. Right now I got a free Premium subscription but usually use Avira free. I thinks it's the best free AV
I honestly don't know about that. I used to use Avira along with a couple of friends and we all had massive virus issues that Avira did not even pick up. Mind you that was the free version. I personally use Norton Security Suite on Win7 and KIS 2010 on XP so that I can scan my whole system with 2 different AV companies for better detection accuracy. You have to have a dual boot though with 2 or more OSes to do that lol
I understand what your saying but in my experience it isn't til someone I know uses Avira free they actually clear the viruses that mess up their comp...lol Phazor was the only person that agreed with me about the best free AV being Avira free...lol
well, you never know, Avira may have come a long way since the last time I used them back in the vista days. All I know is that NIS 2010 and N360/NSS really came along way too. One thing I really do not like about Avira is the fact that whenver it detects anything it will display a popup that makes you interact like Avast 4 did. I personally like ones that either auto-clean on detection or keep scanning and then lets you deal with them when the scan finishes.
Personally, i use Avira Free 9, i use Windows Update every months, i use Deep Freeze (that i bought) as backup, i don't go on porno sites, i avoid warez sites (MDL is NOT a warez forum ), and i don't get unwanted gifts, and i can say that my Windows is 2 years old
Is Deep Freeze a backup program? I thought it was a harddrive lockdown program. That makes you one of us here, most users rely on Warez alot which is why we get the issues. Because you stay away from warez stuff that is partly to reason that you have not had much significant issues dude. I had an OS for like 3 years that never had an issue and that was XP Pro but again I did not use any warez/porno sites then either so there you I guess. I just like getting something that is free to use, good, and light on resources and Norton Security Suite(Modded N360 4.0/2010) is that in a nut shell
oh, ok I see what you mean then with "Backup." I thought you meant that you can backup your system to an Image with Deep Freeze like you would with Ghost or Acronis lol. I used Deep Freeze and it is hella annoying though that you cant even save an option change in your OS with it. Do you have it set up to install and create files on another partition or something that is not locked down? I am actually thinking about doing that lol.
yea maybe. I really don't know because it's been like 2 years since I used Avira lol I still like something that is more though like an IS instead of just an AV. That is why I like Norton and Kaspersky. BTW How did you get Avira Pro for free, a crack?
It is premium usually 26 bucks and the add that avira free gives when it updates. I just signed up for the trial pay with another product then cancelled my trial...lol Poof free Avira Premium...lol
