One of my fave quotes from a surprisingly addictive but short-lived series: "So much struggle for meaning, for purpose. In the end, we find it only in each other. Our shared experience of the fantastic; and the mundane."
By the way to the people who are saying "life is meaningless". I hope you know that to not do something is in itself a choice.
I'm reminded of a bumper sticker I read years ago: "The Hokey Pokey - what if that is what it's all about?"
Enough of the over thinking. The real meaning of life is to make use of the nearest available bimbo and there are oodles of 'em !
True but the sign you assigned before the value is wrong, that is to say, it ought to be => "-", i.e. the absence of any meaning, not "+", i.e. the oodles of "meaning", unless "meaning" in this case means "bosom", which personally, I could live with...
Nothing really gets you like a wasted opportunity, a life wasted down the digital river... yachhhhhhhhhhh...
I have thought about this often .. I guess we'll know the answer only when our heart stops beating and the life force/energy / Soul leaves our body .. Recently after I watched the movie Interstellar I was like imagining how it would be if we could go back and forth in time and space
My usual comment would be as an atheist, when questioned about this is that meaning does not exist without a sentient being so there is no intrinsic meaning outside ourselves. Each of us defines the meaning of his/her life by his/her actions. You mean to say that when the body ceased to exist 'we'll know the answer ' By 'we' might lead a theist to assume that you’ve accepted a “permanent” life, that is, an afterlife.
