What is the SLIC?, How to use

SLIC 2.0 is needed for offline activation of Windows Vista and Server 2008 OEM SLP.
SLIC 2.1 is needed for offline activation of Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 OEM SLP.
SLIC 2.2 is needed for offline activation of Windows Server 2012 OEM SLP.
SLIC 2.3 is needed for offline activation of Windows Server 2012 R2 OEM SLP.
SLIC 2.4 is needed for offline activation of Windows Server 2016 OEM SLP.
SLIC 2.5 is needed for offline activation of Windows Server 2019 OEM SLP.

SLICs are backward compatible, which means SLIC 2.5 still can activate Windows 7.

 

You have to install the modded BIOS as if you are updating BIOS!

Better If you provide the exact link where you got help modding BIOS.

P.S. It may be difficult to revert back BIOS changes.

 

You need to flash your BIOS with that ''.ROM'' file which you will get by extracting that ''.rar'' file.

There is no reference to Windows 10 in the list, does this mean that a SLIC 2.5 cannot activate a Windows 10 Pro installation?

No win10 don't use slic as well as win8.1, they use instead MSDM table.
Slic table is used to activate vista and win7 as well as windows server editions.

Thanks very much for the updated information. And for anybody who wishes to stay on this topic, why do people still ask for SLIC mods? Do SLIC mods have other benefits besides Windows activation? And what were people trying to do in the ASUS thread above, the one working with the MSDM tables in BIOS?

 

They use slic for non emulated windows activation (slic + cert + oem:slp key). DAZ loader emulates the slic when there is none present, with slic it genuinely activates by using the valid slic and only inserts the cert + oem:slp key.

slic can still be used for some server installs.

 

Thanks, so so far, I've inferred that:
(1) DAZ loader/KMS tools/Massgrave are all emulated windows activations
(2) It is impossible to activate Windows 10 by adjusting MSDM tables or by using the SLIC method (unless one first activates Windows 7, and then upgrade to Windows)
If someone could confirm or deny the points above, thanks in advance

 

When a valid slic is present no bootloader (emulated slic) is used,

You can insert a valid key in the MSDM but that will be a different process than the slic process.

You can activate all 10 Consumer & Business SKUs by KEY, MSDM, KMS or HWID.

LTSB/C by KEY, KMS or HWID.
