Dont really have a fave fave but will list a few in case some come looking for inspiration. Contra series, or some of them at least. Battle of midway style amiga games. especially co op. Minesweeper is brilliant. Nidhogg if you're two. Demon souls, dark souls. Alien isolation was cool. The Stanley parable and the beginners guide. Braid and obviously the witness, Jonathan Blow was really the first for me, to hammer the point about the possibility of video games being art home beyond the shadow of doubt. Rim world is excellent for an experience in the likes of dwarf fortress that doesn't demand the player to transcend his humanity in order to play. Osmos is just generally relaxing. FTL and Sunless Sea are great, but hard. The stick of truth was an achievement in its own way. Same goes for resident evil 7. For a weird experience panoramical is cool. About to play hollow knight and Thimbleweed Park, both look quite good. The latter is a point and click adventure with twin peaks and x-files notes to it, should any one care for such.
The Bioshock franchise is my favorite I think. Life is Strange is super good too in my opinion. Can't wait for Life is Strange: Before the Storm!
On the pc I enjoy I enjoy Postal 2 or a retro game called Pigeon hunt 2 but its windows 3.1 / win95 game that will not work on win 10 x64 its fun shoot pigeons with a shotgun or uzi in the park. On the xboxone I enjoy any games or demos I can download for free. I mostly use my xbox to stream hulu or watch Rick and Morty and Adultswim/Cartoon Network late nights
Terraria! I love the random world generation. It keeps the game fresh. Some play it to build, I play it to explore caves and find treasure.
Since fall, 2014: Halo CE! I play on the Bigass map regularly (mostly 2.104, but the official final one as well) and I also like the maps, Coldsnap, Extinction and Hugeass, LOL.
