it adds KMS v6 to the old hosts so they can activate Office 2013 on Win81 Server2012R2. It is obvious that the older hosts can not update to activate any OS version higher than the actual HOST itself without the update. so adding the update to let's say Server 2008 host will allow that host to continue to activate Office 2013 on any OS that sends the request. without the update the host would be crippled to activate Office 2013 on the latest OS's.
Indirectly its true... As this update is making older hosts KMSv6 capable so hosts those are also capable of activating office getting benefit of this update...
So trying to make sense out of it.... Win Vista host and up can activate up to Win 8.x clients with correct key (as it is client --> client), but only Win 2008 and up can activate upto 2012 R2 with correct key (server --> server) Plus the side effect of Office 2013 on Win 8.1/2012 R2 (due to v6 protocol) Right? Rather misleading wording... sebus
Yes you got that right.... After this update & right key... Client based host (vista and above) can activate clients up to 8.1 + office 2013/2010 Server based host(2008 & above) can activate all servers + clients + office 2013/2010 What you saying as side effect, is required & expected behavior. Hope this time its not misleading....
