I downloaded the trial of Server 2008 (non-r2) and used my Dreamspark key to activate it and the channel changed from retail to MAK-B. So I assume that the software licensing model will take any key when entered through slmgr.vbs -ipk. I love the new activation process with Windows 6.x instead of having to have a library of media I just have 1 disk and it will convert to OEM, Retail, VOL, or Eval with the installing of a key.
