Well, what most don't realize is that HWID activation is a powerful user + device tracking for microsoft. I'm rolling on the floor laughing at people obsessing about shutting down telemetry stuff, when at the same time they have activated via HWID.
Will activating Windows 10 LTSB with HWID work, when the machine came preinstalled with Windows 10 Home? I read that HWID activation cannot be removed, so I assume it's not possible but I'm asking to know for sure.
Yes. It doesn't matter what was originally installed, you can generate hwid's for all possible consumer, business and ltsb/c SKUs on the same hardware.
Another alternative that I like is vlmcsd basically a Linux based KMS server emulator. I have set it up inside docker on my Synology NAS. Works just fine for me. Since I am new here I can't post links. Hope someone finds it useful.
KMSoffline does not let me activate via HWID on Windows 8.1.. its greyed out.. Is there any tool out there that lets me activate via HWID for Windows 8.1 ?
If you have an android mobile then see this: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/kisskms-2-7-2-kms-server-app-android.72455/ @BAU
it seems you have tagged me there by mistake. I'm not involved with that project, but I can confirm it worked and was safe couple years back As for windows alternative, KMS_VL_ALL is still the way to go. If you don't care about microsoft doing extra-tracking on your device, then a certain popular hwid script should also work fine (and the most convenient out of all of them, since hwid is persistent once established, you never have to do it again)
