I've got a server in France with 2008 server R2. Nothing works, no updates, no major software, just browser and the like. It failed to install Net framework and when I try and upgrade with another 2008 server it says I need to install SP1 before it will let me do that. I was hoping to be able to repair it but it's install or nothing. I've tried Win8, win7, 2012 server and none of them will install. I have done the automated reinstall of the software 50 times + and it loads it but it never works properly and on the occasions when I can install the updates, it crashes at reboot every time. OVH won't fix it for me and I'm stuck. When I install the os I lose my connection when it reboots. I've tried answer files, unattended versions and all without success. In case you haven't gathered, I'm not that great at this sort of stuff so a simple way would be greatly appreciated. If I install VNC Server, will it stay connected during reboots? Is there any software that does? cheers chaps
Try format all disks (before formatting make a backup of files) maybe something happens, I think it's one difficult virus.
Take a step back & think if the question even makes sense! If is is software based that means it must be executed in the OS. If the OS is rebooted then the code & its execution is gone, so how could it stay connected (by pure will, because you want it to?) Kind of question expected from a typical user, not techie guy... rrohela answered it already perfectly in post #2
