If this was asked before, I apologize. I notice when downloading the updates, it shows far more than I usually get after a fresh install, should I still include them all when integrating into an ISO?
Yes, this project provide all released updates, and not all of them are offered by Windows Update it's your choice to use them or not but if you are looking for matching WU, then this is not the suitable project for you
Hi Guys, I've read back a few pages and can't seem to find an answer to what I'm about to ask, even though it's probably been asked hundreds of times. I've downloaded the November update 3 iso's for 8.1. I've then used WHDownloader to download all updates from the list 8.1update3 64 and 32 bit. I've then used NTlite to integrate all of those updates. I have just installed x64 Enterprise on a VM and when I go to WU it is offering me the updates shown in the screenshots attached. Have I missed something? Because I thought that the latest iso's had the June and November updates already installed. Any help appreciated of course.
This issue has been reported couple of times before, however we can't seem to know the cause in my integration test those updates doesn't re-offered by WU did you integrated any lang pack? enabled any disabled feature? integrated RSAT?
It's a normal en-us iso. The MD5's of the iso's I used are... Enterprise x64 = 115D7C4203417E52C09D16B50043B10D Enterprise x86 = CE18DE710A9C025323B8DEE823BFBE7B 8.1 x64 = E0D4594E56C0545D379340E0DB9519A5 8.1 x86 = 46CE6553A0E0ABC264B77C1FC59DFB29 I downloaded all the updates from update list 3 (except the ones that are classed as Do not Integrate) and integrated them to each index in the correct wim file, ie x86 for x86, x64 updates for x64 using NTlite. I then used the instructions from the sticky to create an AIO with media center. The final .wim file size for the AIO install.wim is just over 7Gib. Didn't disable or enable any features, didn't do any language packs. I only downloaded and integrated that WHDownloader downloads from the update3 lists. I did notice that even though WU on the VM says that it needs to download 1.3Gb ish, that it only downloaded about 200Mb before it said the update was installed. I'm going to reinstall the VM with 8.1 Pro and try again. See what happens.
Yes, the RSAT and the Media feature updates were integrated. Edit : Also interestingly, on 8.1 Pro x86, the June and Nov updates were reported by WU as being about 860Mb, but when I installed them they only downloaded about 62Mb in total before they said they were installed. Also no reboot required.
That's the reason then Installing RSAT (which is still RTM version) will need the updated components form already installed updates and why would you install Media feature? it's for N editions only that's a known fact of WU, it shows the overall Update size, but the downloaded size is always smaller due downloading the missing components only and not the whole package
Ah well, I guess I can live with it. I'm not spending another couple of hours re-doing the whole thing.
Today I can not use WHDownloader (v0.1.1) to download the Update Lists. The program says: "Unable to connect to remote server". I don't know why? I have been using the program to download the updates last month.
add language packages on that and add feature that you can backup already downloaded and install updates in operating system.
I really, really love the new gui dl progress. But I think the icon should differ slightly from the one in Windows as it will be a little confusing in the systray (maybe somebody can change the blue wu icon to white or red or some other color)
