I guess I am a little old fashioned and like to do things manually and then use the tools for it that way if the tool isn't working, BAM! I know how to do it myself. I do prefer to us your tool though, it makes things easier!
Alphawaves & Humphrey, thanks guys. You're the best. Gonna do some more digging to see what would be the best approach.
Added Time remaining for update downloads, just doing some tests for integration functions.. Will update soon.. Also added xml file extension image..
Thanks for this great application. Will someone give a tutorial on how to update the system using this tool? I downloaded all updates using this app, but never updated the system. Now I have a clean w7sp1 installed and would like to apply them. There are over 860 updates so far under "WinHotfixDL\Updates\Windows 7 x64\", including "WinHotfixDL\Updates\Windows 7 x64\OLD" sub-folder. Apparently there's IE9 in OLD subfolder as well as IE10 in "Additional". How can I automatically select latest additional stuff/updates and apply them? I don't know which of them superseded... I used to use Wintoolkit for downloading patches and KUC to update my system before. Sorry for long post and my bad english, Appreciate your help.
You're right, I downloaded some of the updates with Windows Toolkit and it created Old folder. I then moved those files and folders and renamed the folders under WinHotfixDownloader. I thought each time I'd run WHD, it would keep latest updates in main update folder and move superseded to Old directory.
Thanks anyway for your work and prompt reply. Hope to see it the best Update Manager of its kind soon.
Hey alpha, just came across a annoyance in your program. It closes if mcrip servers aren't accessible or the computer is offline. What if one had the downloads already and would like to just install? Couldn't
Could have swore there was post after my last one above this one here. :O I was wondering if it was normal for the app to have selected updates, run the install process, tell me it was successful, restart, and then when I add all the updates again, it will show ones that have not been installed yet. Lets say I have 100 updates, all are selected. App shows it install them all and restarts. When I reselect all 100 updates, a good portion is removed from the install list with about 15 still needing to be install. And when the install process is ran again, after reboot, there are still updates in my list it says haven't been installed. If I run it several times with multiple restarts, I eventually whipped out that list. Also, not sure if its the VMware app, the OS installed in the vmware vm, or WHD but when the computer turns off the monitor/puts computer to sleep the app slows/stalls installation of updates. Turn off that function in power solved that problem.
Yes, that can happen. Some updates depend on others, so they have to be put on the back burner and installed the next round. Note this is true for Windows Update as well.
I'm having the same issue as Humphrey with your program closing. I actually haven't been able to get it to run past the splash screen for 24 hours. It says 'Offline' and then promptly closes.
